Hlao-roo 390 Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 Edit: Samples are really good! I like this beautiful, pastoral sort of stuff. It's simple composition, but it's effective. I'm not complaining.I think The Spitfire Grill is another definitive (relatively original) entry of Horner's in that kind of writing...
Hitch 60 Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 The CBS Evening News with Natty Gann. Rejoice Horner fans. REJOICE!!!! And repent for buying early Johnny Williams cds.
scallenger 665 Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 Ordered Natty Gann right when I came back from a journey yesterday. I remember I liked the score a lot when I saw the movie.Did this journey happen to be to California to visit a certain JWFAN forum member?
Trent B 354 Posted July 3, 2009 Author Posted July 3, 2009 Just as an FYI Roger said there won't be any releases July 7th. Most likely everyone at Intrada will be out of town this weekend for the 4th of July. They'll have new releases July 21st though.
Richard P 5,262 Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 Well thanks to the Varese excitement I forgot it had been 2 weeks already since Natty Gann. They deserve a break.
Marian Schedenig 11,618 Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 They'll have new releases July 21st though.Which incidentally will be the 5th anniversary of Goldsmith's death. I wonder...
Wojo 2,458 Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 They're gone at Intrada, but the satellite distributors certainly have stock, like SAE, MovieMusic, and others.
Richard P 5,262 Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 It still went pretty fast.Deservedly - really good score from what I've heard. And I'm showing unprecedented restraint - it's available by *other* means but I'm still waiting patiently for my CD
Ollie 1,375 Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 In case anyone is on the fence, Jerry Goldsmith's Boys From Brazil is down to less than 350 at Intrada.
Hitch 60 Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 And that was 5,000 units!!! Pretty good all the same.
Ollie 1,375 Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 I think In Harms Way and Something Wicked This Way Comes are at the 350 copies left point as well.I believe Roger Feigelson mentioned it on the Intrada message board.
Richard P 5,262 Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 Only a week till the next batch now - 2 releases I believe.
Charlie Brigden 7 Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 I'm missing some ridiculously good stuff unfortunately, but I'm broke. Although I do have an LP rip of IHW.
Richard P 5,262 Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 Give it 10 years and I'll be in your position. If they released a late 90s/early 00s score every fortnight I'd actually have to start a "budget".
Marian Schedenig 11,618 Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 Only a week till the next batch now - 2 releases I believe.I'm still curious as to whether the release date will have any significance.
Maxxie 1 Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 Give it 10 years and I'll be in your position. If they released a late 90s/early 00s score every fortnight I'd actually have to start a "budget".We best get saving now Rich!
Ollie 1,375 Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 Only a week till the next batch now - 2 releases I believe.I'm still curious as to whether the release date will have any significance.Well Lukas did hint that someone other than FSM was working on Goldsmith's score for Sebastian, perhaps that's coming.I also have a feeling we may be getting some more early Goldsmith or John Williams TV scores from FSM, based on some hints Lukas dropped at FSM's message board.
Jay 45,891 Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 Concerning tonight's Intrada releases...One is from the 70s. A rerecorded suite appeared on LP and then again on CD, but this is the first release of the original recording, and in complete format. The other is a Fox double header, featuring one of their usual composers. In fact, one of the titles (not the score, just the name) is the same as another title we released a few years ago.
crocodile 9,642 Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 Isn't it strange all these labels (FSM, Varese, Intrada) are playing with all these "guess what we're gonna release this month?" puzzles? No prizes, no guessing from me, sorry. Karol
Jay 45,891 Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 La La Land doesn't do that. They just announce stuff when they're ready
Luke Skywalker 2,365 Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 One is from the 70s. A rerecorded suite appeared on LP and then again on CD, but this is the first release of the original recording, and in complete format.Family plot?Though i dont know of the end credits appeared 1st on vinyl.
indy4 160 Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 That would be awesome, but I have a feeling FP would be limited to 3,000, and there'd probably be more hype about it being a holy grail.
Trent B 354 Posted July 20, 2009 Author Posted July 20, 2009 La La Land doesn't do that. They just announce stuff when they're readyWhich is something I wish FSM, Varese and Intrada would do.
indy4 160 Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 I like the clues. Adds a bit of excitement to my life.
Hitch 60 Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 I like the clues. Adds a bit of excitement to my life. The only excitement in your life
Wojo 2,458 Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 If everybody just announced stuff when they were ready, that would be boring. Everyone would be the same. With their clues and the guessing game, Intrada adds a bit of adrenaline-rushing excitement to what could otherwise be just another mundane announcement. It's audience participation time.
Koray Savas 2,260 Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 One is from the 70s. A rerecorded suite appeared on LP and then again on CD, but this is the first release of the original recording, and in complete format. This exactly describes Black Sunday, but I don't know if the suite appeared on LP.
Delorean90 47 Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 Good Morning, Miss Dove/Black Widow - Leigh HarlineLast Embrace - Miklos Rozsa
Nick Parker 3,049 Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 I am interested in the Rosza album, but I already spent my money on Nino Rota and Checkmate/Rhythm in Motion....
Wojo 2,458 Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 The Rozsa does sound nice. But probably because it sounds like typical Rozsa. This will take some thought.
Hitch 60 Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 Don't ponder too long. My hernia is acting up again.
Wojo 2,458 Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 You mean you haven't learned how to live with it yet?
Joe Brausam 231 Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 Star Trek AND a Rozsa in one day! I'm loving it, but my wallet isn't!Very glad to be getting The Last Embrace.
Hitch 60 Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 You mean you haven't learned how to live with it yet?I have. It's the missus that hasn't.
Richard P 5,262 Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 First and last tracks of Last Embrace sound kinda nice but the rest, mehhh. And it's all in mono too.
Wojo 2,458 Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 First and last tracks of Last Embrace sound kinda nice but the rest, mehhh. And it's all in mono too. It's so easy to fool with the sound.
Ollie 1,375 Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 There's nothing wrong with mono sounding scores.
paleo 78 Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 I must say they are really trying hard to save my money. Where are all the real gems?
Trent B 354 Posted July 21, 2009 Author Posted July 21, 2009 Well these two new ones I can pass up. I'll see what they turn out on August 3rd though.
