What Is The Last Film You Watched? (Older Films)

When Hur watches his mother and sister living amongst the lepers ... the music, Heston's face in great pain, the dramatics, .... it went on forever!

The race is still good though ...

At least the film has a scene like the race scene. Spartacus only has the "I am Spartacus" scene as a highlight. ;)

Then you're probably looking forward to the remake of Ben-Hur due out later this month, which from the trailer is nothing but the race and sea battles and Romans fighting.

Nope.

Ustinov guiding the ladies on a gladiator to choose from ("I want the big black one")

The trident fight

Any of Laughton and Ustinov's scenes

"Do you eat oysters?"

Crassus and Spartacus's speeches intercut

Spartacus and Antoninus's final fight

Crassus taunting Spartacus

The finale on the Appian Way

Too many to choose from!

Naked Gun 33 1/3: The Final Insult

Still not as funny as the first two movies, but there's still plenty of belly laughs. The beginning is shaky, but the climax at the Academy Awards ceremony makes it worth it. I mean, Leslie Nielson fighting Raquel Welch for the Best Picture envelope and Pia Zadora with a tuba on her head. Still funnier than the shit parodies that came out several years ago.

I wonder what the blue screen was supposed to fill in though. Not a starfield I think. Because the exterior of the Collector seems to be fully enclosed.

Did they run out of time to such an extent they could not have filled it in with a grey background?

Some chat about Star Trek : Insurrection on the last page reminded me that apparently unfinished bluescreen effects shots made it into the finished film -

Apparently Star Trek is better than everything.

I watched The Little Prince, which premiered today on Netflix (forgoing a theatrical release).  It was a pleasant, well-animated and well-scored film with a nice (albeit familiar) message.

Same here.

Ditto. It never takes me out of the film, not like the gas cylinder in Gladiator. But I might need to rewatch it.

We finished TNG months ago, watched Generations months ago. I recently remember Ben Sisko's dad referencing the Borg scare in Homefront and Paradise Lost, but that's an codger remembering the incursion after Wolf 359.

Point is, I could take a break for that movie, then watch Insurrection, and see how I feel about the collector's blue windows again. Possibly in Season 5 once the DS9 crew gets the First Contact uniforms.

Indeed:

Star Trek: Nemesis

It's a stinker, yes. I think what save it for me are the space battle and Jerry Goldsmith score. Plus, Star Trek.

For what it's worth, while the dune buggy chase gets a ton of flack, that scene would be right at home in the new movies, which everyone loves.

Your 'misses' are spot on ... didn't have a bloody clue what was going on towards the end of Sunshine either.

Alex, you missed-out "A Life Less Ordinary". On purpose?

All in all, his best work might just turn out to be the 2012 Olympics.

His best film? Easy. "Shallow Grave", but "Born Slippy" fits "Trainspotting" like nothing I've ever heard! Sublime!

I never saw that one. Too busy quarrying!

Really? I'm definitely surprised. Ghost was the other good and okay to like as a teenage lad romantic movie. Pretty Woman being the other one, obviously.

Yesterday I watched "Hachi: A Dog's Tale".

I cried my life.

I discovered Jan A. P. Kaczmarek and it leaded me to watch... Finding Neverland.

I think I  have more tears left for tomorrow.

What do you suggest?

That's because 666 is an identification of The Beast, and not a marker for the end of the world. When the end of the world comes, believe me, Sweep, you will know about it.

666 is no longer alone. He's getting out the marrow in your backbone.

Racist!

To be fair, I thought the same stuff about the idiotic Love and Mercy even though I worship Brian Wilson.  Unjustly praised movie.
