Don't worry. The "adult" who cares about My Little Pony is no longer an active member of this community. Neither is the minority that Drax seems to be championing.

Maybe. Feels a lot more genuine thn stuff like "The Theory of Everything" though.mworth watching for performance alone at least.

I haven't seen Still Alice, but I still think The Theory of Everything is more genuine than it's made out to be. More genuine, in particular, than The Imitation Game, which I enjoyed, but which was way too artificial and Hollywood-streamlined to deserve its screenplay Oscar.

The muppets was never for kids!

Never. Not even when Sesame Street came out, and especially not when they Took Manhattan and unveiled the Muppet Babies on Saturday mornings. All for adults.

Is this like how My Little Pony is supposed to be for grown-ups also?

No, the "brony" fan base is more like a sex cult. Spongebob fans (except for the inevitable perverts that all cartoon series fans have for some reason) are well rounded for the most part. It also helps that the majority of the fan base actually grew up with the show, rather than starting in their adult years.

I often find women with ponytails sexy. Is that misogynist of me?

you are attracted to what attracts you.

Spongebob was for adults? Really???

No, but it has adult humor that kids don't pick up on. Not to mention it's just genuinely funny.

I haven't seen much of it, but what I did see defo had that vibe. It was quite easy to watch, for a cartoon serial.

Just took me ages to find this scene, but it had me laughing my head off when I saw it last year: http://youtu.be/_ooYeE_b3vs

Could you just post a list of all the films you've ever seen?

Why would you care?

I think you might have overestimated the sincerity of my request.

From that list, 20 films Wojo should see before the Matrix sequels:

Schindler's List

Minority Report

Duel

Munich

The Adventures of Tintin

JFK

The Shining

Dr. Strangelove

A Clockwork Orange

Casino Royale

Skyfall

Goldeneye

Tomorrow Never Dies

Reservoir Dogs

Jackie Brown

Kill Bill 1

Kill Bill 2

Inglorious Basterds

Django Unchained

The Abyss

There are about five or six of those that I haven't seen, but I could more than make up the difference with The Killing (Kubrick's), Paths of Glory, Lolita (Kubrick's), Barry Lyndon, Citizen Kane, The Duellists and The Godfather, Part III (which gets very hard done by just for not being as good as The Godfather or The Godfather, Part II).

Jupiter Ascending!

And it was good! If you watch Doctor Who on a regular basis, you will love this movie, because it has a lot of the same quirky vibes and plot elements. Seriously, if you like Doctor Who, go watch it. If there is ever a Doctor Who movie, the Wachowski's need to direct it.

If you're a retarded film critic who leaves the movie wondering

why humans are being harvested

after three fucking scenes explaining it in subtle, not so subtle, and outright exposition, then you will not enjoy it and will think it's complicated and hard to follow.

7.5/10

Wait, what? There were some people who actually didn't understand why humans were harvested? Really? Where are you reading these things?

That's hardly the film's problem.

Anyone else find the romance scenes hard to sit through?

The middle school kids in my audience did.

I thought it was fine. Jupiter didn't seem to have much of a dating history, then this hunky guy shows up and saves her life repeatedly. I'd want to make out with him too

It's Magic Mike, for crissake. At least it'd be a good story.

BTW, do you like My Little Pony or Spongebob?

Never seen My Little Pony before (original or reboot)

We watched SpongeBob in college from time to time, it was pretty funny. Saw the first movie in the theater with a group of friends after we were all drinking at a bar next door, and had a good time.

Never watched the show since

That's not so much the problem. It was the cringeworthy dialogue. And boy was Jupiter horny for most of the film...

Not necessarily hard to sit through, but clearly unconvincing and unengaging.

Yeah, that. Was just using hyperbole to further make my point.

I found it all to be believable.

The romantic plot was definitely the weakest part of the movie.

I didn't think the dialog was cringe-worthy.

Cringe worthy is Attack of the Clones.

I don't like sand. It's coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere. Not like here. Here everything is soft and smooth....LIKE YOU, WOJO!

The dialogue in Jupiter Ascending isn't horrendous, but it's pretty bad, and coupled with some poor performances it just drags an otherwise well designed and executed space adventure down.

Yup.

Yea, like I said on the last page, Eddie Redmayne was really quite bad, and Kunis basically had one mode the whole time

Has King Mark seen this yet?

Birdman:

Well done movie but not exactly my cup of tea. In short, the film didn't make me feel a lot and therefore I only mildly enjoyed it. 6/10

BTW, Birdman got it wrong. Cable TV is the new sanctuary for actors, not the stage.

Cheers!

King Mark?

...

Just kidding, of course.

No, this is a movie for the publicists of the world. It's high-octane, very talkative (actors verbally fighting all the time) and it comments (it satires) on the state of the movie industry.
