Mr. Breathmask 555
I think I've only listened to this once. Same with Jurassic World. Inside Out was great though. Not Mr. Big

At least any time soon. I personally was really into the movie riiiight up until when the heroes actually get to Tomorrowland. The last quarter of the movie was such a mess and, to me, very troubling thematically (in the literary sense, not musical themes), but the music was always fantastic! The movie's alright but the score is great. And no there's no chance we'll get an expanded score anytime soon (maybe in 20 years). I'm hoping for a session leak... Incanus 5,716
This faded from my memory rather quickly along with Jurassic World. I listened to this about 1½ times.
Jay 37,374
I seem to be in the minority for loving it, but if you like most other Giacchino works it probably deserves another chance from you when you have the time some day
Incanus 5,716
I might have to give Giacchino's 2015 output some time and see if I feel differently toward it now than I did a few months ago.

Miz 139
I've found Tomorrowland is a grower; it has much more momentum and character to latch onto than Jurassic World. Jay

#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 10,265
Yes. But it was useful because it finally proved Giacchino is NOT the new John Williams.
publicist 4,643
It is the only one - wash you ears - that actually features a long unified cue with a larger musical vision than just to catch a fleeting moment onscreen (the long welcome to the park one) and plays nicely with its Goldsmith/Williams reminiscences, i. e. the jumbly horn call for the dino hunt best featured in the latter part of the suite. It's a neat 40-minute album and much better than the slapdash and pointless 80's cliché collection of TOMORROWLAND (that movie sucked) and the asthmatic INSIDE OUT (some wonderful inventive moments that failed to come together). Popular Post Gurkensalat 340
Stumbled on this soundtrack and listened to it. I like it! Has an optimistic touch that has gotten rare. The rhythmic motiv reminds of John Adams minimalism, its harmonic constant mediant changes of Horners Star Trek II In some way this score seems to be more Star Trek than his Star Trek scores, perhaps due to its mentioned optimistic (naive?) characteristic. Pin-Ultimate experience is a great listen and reminds me of the old John Williams set pieces, at a time, where a composer could actually write a 5 min concert piece to a movie sequence. Popular Post TheUlyssesian 2,478
What a beautiful score. Was just ideally doodling on my keyboard and found my fingers playing the main theme from this film. Went and listened to the soundtrack once again and yeah, this is one of Gia's very best efforts, definitely two of his best themes - Athena's theme and the main theme or the frank/athena theme, both of which are played in the first and second halves of Electric Dreams respectively. I specially love the main theme, definitely has a different sound to it. Max, leeallen01, Jay and 1 other
Disco Stu 15,495
I think it's his most consistently compelling OST. For as much as I love much of his music, most of his OSTs have some flab, parts where my attention drifts. Tomorrowland I find engaging from start to finish. Jay 37,374
Yea its a solid album, and despite that I stil REALLY want the rest of the music (there's a cue for Casey going into the NASA base the second time that's killer!) Disco Stu 15,495
I only saw the movie once, and when I had only listened to the OST a couple of times. Think I need to revisit it with an ear for what's missing.
Jay 37,374
Yea, it will be rewarding if you do. There's also some great unreleased cues with cool choir in the middle of the film
Miz 139
Seconded, this score has real staying power and some of the best themes he has written. Can't wait for a full release... is it possible?

TheUlyssesian 2,478
Gia seems like he writes his best stuff for flops which does not add to his reputation. I think he wrote his 2 best scores - John Carter and Tomorrowland for films no one saw. And he wrote kinda below par music for Inside Out and Zootopia which everyone saw. leeallen01

TheUlyssesian 2,478
It's good - film appropriate. But not a gigantic staggering work of musical virtuosity. But it's good. But not the kind where people might go "best score ever".

Popular Post leeallen01 2,136
My favourite piece is still 'Casey vs Zeitgeist.' There's just something about it that screams the entire point and message of the film. The first half with the piano is melancholic and nostalgic, and the second part is very positive and motivational. That IS Tomorrowland for me.
