A24 4,353
Funny, this week I was thinking of a few titles such as The Last Emperor and The Sheltering Sky, if only for the cinematography of Vittorio Storaro. And while 4K versions are in the works, nothing concrete has been announced yet. And believe it or not, I also tried to find The Others to see if there was maybe a restored version in 4K, but alas ... rough cut and Naïve Old Fart

Raiders of the SoundtrArk 2,434
Obviously all Spielberg movies should get the 4K treatment (top of the list Duel, AI and Tintin in Open Matte) As a big fan of Deakins work I would also say what's left (especially Hail Ceaser!) Otherwise: Aliens, Alien3 and Resurrection The Towering Inferno How to Steel a Million Fincher's Seven, Fight Club and Panic Room (preferably in both Open Matte and theatrical ratio) The Hateful Eight Django Unchained

Thor 7,553
I neither have the equipment to play them properly, nor the money or desire to expand my physical movie collection very much at this point. But I've been patiently waiting for a 4K restoration of THE ABYSS for years. A couple of years ago, there were some murmurs that they were working on it, but they're waiting for Cameron to find a gap in his AVATAR projects to properly oversee it. It's been many decades ago but wasn't it just a loud and nervous movie? A Spielberg in excess mode, resulting in an 'energetic', chaotic and not so funny movie? Naïve Old Fart 9,591
European critics were kinder to 1941, than their American counterparts. Curiously, it was liked, in Japan. It is a big, loud, brash, in-yer-face movie, and it goes against the kind of film I normally like, but I can't help myself: I love it
bruce marshall 1,318
1941 is an impressive production. It has great fx,stunts and cast. Just one problem: it's not funny . Thor 7,553
Not sure 1941 would benefit from a 4K restoration. JoeinAR 1,949
To you perhaps. I admit that the film is less than the sum of its parts. But scene by scene set piece by set piece there is some amazing stuff. But John Williams score is never short of amazing. It easily surpasses many of the so-called great scores he's done in the 21st century. filmmusic and Naïve Old Fart 1
rough cut 1,715
I agree that the score is fun. Even though I’m not a fan of the cannonball sound effect in the March, but thankfully there are alternate versions for us with that opinion. And the movie isn’t bad, it holds ones interest from start to finish. It’s just off in it’s tonality. But I can also chalk it up to being a special kind of humor - some people will “get it”, the rest not.
