  1. That main title track really does remind me of something that would be written for a 1970s action thriller. It's great!
  2. It's really disappointing that The Last Bus isn't great. I was hoping for a throwback to the 90s disaster scores like Dante's Peak.
  3. It's the tabloid that said JW dislikes modern scores that are the worst scumbags. He never said that at all.
  4. I wonder if John Williams will regret his comments and will then release one of those cringe apology videos that some YouTubers have done
  5. I don't think it is a coincidence that his commments came around the same time as his new concerto. I think he was just in the concert music headspace during that interview. He probably would have said something different if it had taken place while he was in the middle of a scoring assignment.
  6. With both 'Labor of Love' from Star Trek and 'Starship Birth' from Fantastic 4, Giacchino has really cornered the niche "woman gives birth on a space craft in the middle of an action scene" side of the scoring market
  7. I'm sure we all have memories of being stuck at home during the pandemic and how great it felt when those restrictions were lifted. I presume JW has had to spend a lot of time at home recovering, so I'm sure being back on stage with new music, especially at Tanglewood, was very rewarding and satisfying for him.
  8. I have very fond memories of Tanglewood. The only time I visited was for a JW concert in 2005. It was also my first time outside of Ireland. That was quite an adventure for my first time abroad! Hope everyone there has a great time.
  9. I just saw the film today. I've had the OST on regular rotation since it was released so it was great to hear the music in context. I think Giacchino really knocked this score out of the park, and I say that as someone who's been quite lukewarm towards his scores in recent years. I really like the silver surfer's theme on the album and it works brilliantly in the film.
  10. The beginning of Duel of the Fates would be a lot different if JW took that approach: "An-na, Sar-ah, An-na, Jenn-if-er"
  11. Is the choir just singing random girls' names? I hear Erika at 2:03 and Jordana at 3:10
  12. 'Tripping The Lights Fantastic' kinda reminds me of the quieter instrumental version of a Bond song that John Barry would often do. It's not as outwardly romantic as what Barry used to do but equally as lovely.
  13. To be fair, Jerry Goldsmith also asked his son to write some cues for First Contact.
  14. I haven't seen Stuckmann's review but at least he looks normal in his thumbnail
  15. The same happened to Sean Connery. He looked incredible up until his 80s then age finally caught up to him.
