nightscape94 965
Kind of unfair to view an arc intended to encompass three movies when you've only seen one. Finn's character is the only one with a relatively self-contained arc within TFA. Bilbo

John 2,032
I'm far more interested in Kylo's journey as a character than Rey. She (so far) follows the typical "zero to hero" arc that almost every character in movies nowadays follow.
Popular Post mrbellamy 6,287
The most interesting thing about Rey and Daisy's performance to me was the emotional range and sensitivity. So many little expressive moments impressed me, how she got lost in distraction looking at the old lady on Jakku, her convincing terror whenever she or Finn were in danger, her shock at shooting a Stormtrooper. I get the "no flaws, no character transformation" thing -- there's nothing that really sticks out about her personality or behavior that should be overcome or that could eventually get her into trouble, nothing that really changes within her except she "accepts her destiny" -- but as a reactive fish-out-of-water character it was good to watch an action/adventure hero who felt like a human being, who seemed like she was constantly observing and feeling and perceiving. When Kylo Ren tortures her mind on the green planet, it looks like actual pain on her face, not just a stoic grimace. Even when she was technically pulling off absurd feats, she never really seemed in-control to me, not in a cold or perfect way, or the sort of jokey "Ha ha I don't know what I'm doing but *wink* really I do!" way. I liked seeing her delighted and surprised in her successes, frightened and overwhelmed when things got too big. A huge amount of this is Daisy Ridley, but much of this felt considered in the writing/directing/editing as well. The script is full of plot contrivances that let Rey get away over and over again with dumb luck (or dumb Force luck), but she doesn't seem like an invulnerable character. Kasey Kockroach 2,344
I came across the 1993 Anthology disc for A New Hope for a bargain recently and have been enjoying it. I assume one would be better off with the 2-disc set, but I'm satisfied with this presentation as is. But I'm curious, what were these albums like for Empire Strikes Back or Return of the Jedi? Should I seek out the 2-disc sets for those, or are the 75-minute discs for each satisfying?

Well, if you are a real Star Wars and John Williams fan, I guess you should own the 1993 Anthology boxset AND the three 2-CD SE Editions. We can't really compare them, there are minor changes. The sound is not the same too... Some prefer the sound on the 1993 boxset, some on the SE CDs... Also the 1993 boxset introduced some alternate in the mix of A New Hope (The Throne Room by example). There are some left/right channel inversions too I think on the 1993 boxset. On The Empire CD of 1993 Anthology boxset, there's an EDIT problem in a track involving Yoda's Theme, I don't remember which one. In the SE version of Jedi, you have the newly recorded finale and the fabulous "Jedi Rocks". Honestly, I prefer the 1993 Anthology. And on it, they reconstructed the "Main Theme" like it was on the original LP. On The SE edition, the Main Theme appears for the first time with no edit. No set is actually perfect... that's the problem.
Kasey Kockroach 2,344
Is there music missing in the 1993 albums that's especially important? In A New Hope's case, if I was even more naive on the subject than I already am, I'd assumed this was the complete score.
