OneBuckFilms 517 Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 I think it was to match the abundance of green in the artwork. The traditional burgundy would have clashed in a way it usually doesn't with most covers. IMHO, it adds a distinction to the score.
Wojo 2,458 Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 Oh, I hope Intrada rereleases this score two years from now to fix the abhorrent spine color.
crocodile 9,724 Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 I just read that on Varese's official Facebook page: New CD CLUB announcement coming on Monday, February 10. Also a new release from our Limited Edition series. Visit our web site on the 10th for the exciting reveal! Karol
Jonesy 55 Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Good I also think that Varese will release Star Trek Into Darkness in expanded form.I wonder if they will reissue a Williams' score this time.
Richard P 5,303 Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Notice the use of 'announcement', which doesn't necessarily mean it's only one release.
Koray Savas 2,260 Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Well I assume the CD Club will be the typical 4-5 titles (some Encore), and the new Limited Series will be Into Darkness.
A. A. Ron 2,485 Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Doesn't it seem a little soon for STID only a month after Nemesis? Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
Trent B 354 Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 February 10th? Damn it! I was gonna buy some decals for a couple of my models so I can finish them...guess I better hold off then!BTW I hope that STID is part of this batch. Most likely will ship a month later...might wait until next month to order, depending if it is STID and how limited it will be.
crocodile 9,724 Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 He was indeed, just two days after Johnny. Except for the fact... it was three years earlier. Karol
publicist 4,650 Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 That means more Goldsmith. I am curious.
crocodile 9,724 Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 It will be also a tenth anniversary of his passing this year. Yeah, definitely the Gorgeous.Karol
crocodile 9,724 Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Didn't someone release that already?Karol
crocodile 9,724 Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Is there anything else worth expanding on?Karol
publicist 4,650 Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 SMALL SOLDIERS and ADRIAN MESSENGER are my picks. At least for what is possible for VS. Maybe THE HAUNTING, though that is not a high priority but another score that wasn't helped by the slim album pickens.
ManofDestiny 104 Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Pretty soon this time. My Abyss, Nemesis just arrived this week!Hope there will be Karate Kid 4 this time. And if they are planning any Goldsmith title......
Marian Schedenig 11,695 Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 SMALL SOLDIERS and ADRIAN MESSENGER are my picks. At least for what is possible for VS. Or AFO?
Jay 46,244 Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Really hoping this batch contains Air Force One, Starship Troopers, and / or Predator 2! shockwave 1
publicist 4,650 Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Though in reality we have all of these already (except for P2, which i find more than enough in its 45-minute incarnation). Makes it all a bit awkward to unwrap a new cd you never are going to listen to since you know it by heart. If it is THE HAUNTING, it's at least a score i don't know beyond the short album, modest as it is.

Trent B 354 Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 If Predator 2, Air Force One, Starship Troopers and STID is part of the group it's gonna be expensive... I might have to order through Peter (Movie Music) and pay him in March.

Richard P 5,303 Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Unlikely that they'll have two titles from the same era isn't it?I have no doubt that one of their 90s 30-minuters will be 'deluxed'. Only question is which one.
Jay 46,244 Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 I expect a batch very similar to the last one. A major 90s expansion, an obscure silver age title, something from the 80s maybe, and a couple of encores. Hopefully the Limited Edition line title is STID and not some obscure current movie.
shockwave 8 Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Really hoping this batch contains Air Force One, Starship Troopers, and / or Predator 2!Ditto!

Now we're talking.
publicist 4,650 Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 It's only one CD and this will be JG.
Jill Sandwich 11,168 Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 I hope it's nothing I want. I've already committed to the February LLL items!
crocodile 9,724 Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 It's only one CD and this will be JG.How do you know that? It's not clear from that Facebook update. Might be a Club release (or several), and a Limited Release.Karol
publicist 4,650 Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 No, there was a blurb from VS that it is one one club cd this time on FSM.
Jay 46,244 Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 We'll have a "batch" soon enough, but on Monday we will be announcing only one new CD Club title, so it won't be too hard to budget this time. We will also announce one new title in our Limited Edition series. Hope that helps.https://www.facebook.com/varesesarabanderecords/posts/214742255384734?comment_id=517988&offset=0&total_comments=16
Jay 46,244 Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 little over 5 hours to go until the announcement, and the Colosseum webmaster hasn't spilled the beans yet
ManofDestiny 104 Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 One? Must be Into Darkness. 5000 copies.
Trent B 354 Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 The Adventurer: The Curse Of The Midas BoxFernando Velázquez Limited to 1,000 copieshttp://www.varesesarabande.com/servlet/the-1157/The-Adventurer-cln--The-Curse/DetailThe List Of Adrian MessengerJerry GoldsmithLimited to 3,000 copieshttp://www.varesesarabande.com/servlet/the-1156/The-List-Of-Adrian/Detail
ManofDestiny 104 Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 So it's an early Goldsmith.I'll pass it for a while, until I have extra money to get this one.Doesn't sounds very interesting to me.
Jonesy 55 Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 I might buy The Curse Of The Midas Box. Samples sounds terrific
Jill Sandwich 11,168 Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 I've wanted this Jerry score for years!
publicist 4,650 Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 It's great fun.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=biTQ21l39F0
OneBuckFilms 517 Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 It doesn't appeal to me personally, but this is a grail to many. Kudos to Varese for putting it out.
Olivier 5 Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 I don't remember the music as I've only seen the movie once (I liked it), but ordering it was a non-brainer; the sample from the fox hunt is great.Excellent samples from the Adventurer as well.
Jay 46,244 Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 I don't think there's a specific reason, they probably just ask first. There was a recent FSM thread where MV of LLL posted that while working on Grimm, he asked that studio for Bates Motel, but it was already spoken for. Now we know it was Varese who got that one. Maybe Robert Townsend is just more on top of things than other label heads, no idea.Your signature isn't working
