curlytoot got a reaction from Oswin Pond in THE LAST JEDI - Disney Records OST
Not sure why it seems like just about every comment you make on the forums is bashing people here who love JW...

curlytoot got a reaction from 1977 in Star Wars Concert Suites
I don't know if you have Spotify, but there is a (less-than-official-looking) recording of a BBC orchestra doing it, which seems to start from the end of "The Rebel Fleet". I wonder if that's what you're referring to?

Does anyone have a up-to-date list of all of the seven Star Wars films' concert suite tracks? I've been compiling a list but feel that I'm probably missing some. Thanks!

The PC police have officially arrived... 🙄 Grow a spine. It’s a pretty common phrase; this isn’t a college safe space, it’s the real world and not everyone is going to pander to the <1% and their demands. If this was a personal attack he was making I’d understand but I mean... Come on, man. (Hope I didn’t just misgender you; I’m sure that would be an offense too, if so.)

Oh, how I’d love a David Arnold SW anthology score...

The way JW is playing with new and interesting renditions of TFA themes in the first few tracks reminds me strongly of ESB.
I remember thinking that score was more musically complex and varied than the very straightforward score for ANH. I am getting the same impression here, especially with how JW treats the thematic material.
I hope everyone takes the time to appreciate these new renditions. They are quite unique.

07 The Rebellion is Reborn (4:00)
OK on second listen, this entire track could be a concert arrangement for sure. It features Rose's Theme prominently to start, but then gives way to some brass fanfare medley that repeats a few times, back to Rose's Theme, back to the brass fanfare... back to Rose's Theme and ends in a very concert arrangement-y way.
So yea, seems like there is a concert arrangement after all.

Starting the album now.
As someone who was once quite skeptical of the Resistance theme, I must say it's really grown on me over the years. What a badass theme, and now a classic SW march.

Oh for heaven's sake, can't you find something else to occupy yourself with? If I had to be offended by all the good-natured jokes about my disability made on this board... I hope this post doesn't offend you...

Let's have a look at the logical fallacies you've used:
1. Traitorous critic fallacy & Association fallacy ("PC police")
2. Abusive fallacy ("Grow a spine")
3. Appeal to tradition ("Pretty common phrase")
4. False dichotomy ("not a safe space")
5. False compromise ("not everyone is going to...")
6. Appeal to ridicule (sarcastic: "I'm sure misgendering would be an offense")
Plus Kettle logic and Gish-galloping, uniting all of your fallacies together.

These people are "fucking retarded" though. Calling them something else won't change the reality so what's the difference?

I will be listening to it tonight and posting impressions in the appropriate thread(s)! Still can't believe I got it though! It's a 30 min drive and I arrived there 10 min before close. Just checked the first shop across from Spaceship Earth and there it was!

My review, no spoilers. In Polish. http://film.onet.pl/recenzje/gwiezdne-wojny-ostatni-jedi-ostatni-beda-pierwszymi-recenzja-bez-spoilerow/2q6lep
Don't believe the malcontents. I saw the movie today and the score is really great. And it's not about recycling old music because, apart from old themes, there's a lot of exciting new music, not just only two new themes. And even two scenes with choirs - short but very emotional and epic.
Brilliant score. Williams did it again! Can't wait for the CD, hope to get it tomorrow. I wonder what he chose from this, since the film has about 130 minutes of music.

While I was initially disappointed at how little new thematic material there seems to be in this score, I am pretty excited about how confident all the reactions are in the music and I'm glad that I know now to basically expect Force Awakens 2.0. My biggest caveat with that score was always that while I enjoy the themes, I wanted more out of them in the underscore so I love that he really seems to be using this score to pay off that material.
Of course I did hope that he'd be able to achieve that while also bringing in a lot of new core stuff completely unique to TLJ, but nevertheless it sounds like he's really cementing an identity for this trilogy and it's leaving an impression.
