I remember him being the only one who pushed for and succeeded in bringing out a JW SW isolated score feature.

Yes.  His skin looks a bit more pallid.  More... stretched.... like... butter scraped over too much bread.

it is seriously impressive how effortlessly they seem to capture the spirit and energy of the original recording

According to the booklet of the HP collection released last year, the orchestra was on Abbey Road on 9/11 apparently recording the Children's Suite and the movie's suites (Hedwig's Theme and Harry Woundrous World), when, during the afternoon break they watched on TV what was happening on NY. Then, Williams gave the people the choice of calling it a day or continue to work - and they chose the second option. So, during that afternoon, while there was world-chaning events happening across the ocean, the Abbey Road was crowded with americans recording Philosopher's Stone, Harry Gregson-Williams' Spy Game and upstairs people were mixing Lord of the Rings.

However, I am curious to know how Williams felt at that moment, considering that he was born on the state of New York. Was he shaken, angry, preocupied? If so, he was very professional and continue to do his job wonderfully. Maybe his way of dealing with a tragedy like that is working?

Williams probably just wrote the theme for his brother as a practical joke.

I have to say, having never seen or heard of this orchestra, I'm very impressed with their playing of Williams music. They've clearly performed heaps of his work in concerts, even better to see they have HD videos of said performances. Looks like they did a Star Wars concert a few years back and even performed the original HS&TP concert arrangement. Was hoping it would be the new version but alas:

I can see where @Montre is coming from. Hearing TFA live was a revelation. All those classic Williams Star Wars flourishes are all over that score, but are practically inaudible in the film thanks to the terrible sound mix (and the music mix itself does no favours to balancing all the voices in the orchestra).

TLJ was a huge improvement on both fronts. Score was treated far better by the sound mixers (no doubt JW's public comments helped his cause), and the mix of the score itself was greatly improved and less weighted towards the punchy dry brass.

    Scores:

    1. The BFG
    2. The Post
    3. The Book Thief (VERY close behind #2, which largely gets there on the strength of the "Presses Roll" cue)

    Films:

    1. The Post
    2. The BFG
    3. The Book Thief (I did not like this film at all; score was the only bright spot)

My appreciation for The BFG score is of course well known around here. While I did put Book Thief last for score, it has some excellent moments, including this absolutely heart-breaking section:

I really enjoy this track from The Post, easily my most listened to track from this score. Reminds me of Nixon and Catch me if you Can...

I actually started watching it. Only I gave up after 20 minutes or so. I still have the DVD.
