No deleted scenes or extended edition? Yikes, seems like Disney are just dropping the film like a hot potato.
 
And what a slap in the face to have the Williams featurette relegated as a digital feature. But hey, at least we get an entire featurette about D-O instead. 

That would be nice. But it would probably also lower the chances of us ever getting the complete score releases.
 
I personally don't care much about isolated SW scores. They are so hacked up anyway.

There's too much mention of "20th Century Fox" and other production trivia that Disney would rather suppress. LFL in the 2000s was too transparent for today's tightly guarded corporate culture.

Suggestions for a “JJ cut” of TLJ
 
Simply cutting down the Canto Bight sequence will improve the film, the more left out the better...
 
And maybe create a different opening where Luke doesn’t throw away his lightsaber.
 
And delete the scene where Chewie becomes a vegetarian...
 
...and the “everybody has the force” ending. Bye, bye broom boy!
 
Edit: Oh, and that stupid Poe-Hux conversation from the beginning of the movie should never have happened the way it did.
 
And if possible, play down the “your parents were nobody” parts...
 
Finally, to help bridge TFA and TROS, put in:
A) anything establishing The Knights Of Ren as badasses, and
B) a hint that the emperor is still lurking about, maybe that recording they put in Fortnite could be heard towards the end.

I know this might upset some people, but listening to the album (on Destiny of a Jedi), my first reaction is:
 
Holy _shit_. John, where _were_ you the last two movies?! The breadth of the music, the emotional pull, the harmonies, everything...now _this_ is Williams!

Aha! I think the reason the Finale is a mess is because it has alternate concert endings, like the TFA Signature Edition suite. At 7:33 in Finale, at the end of the Rise of Skywalker theme, just before it it breaks into the Main Title and Throne Room, you can make a clean edit into 3:27 of The Rise of Skywalker OST track. That gives you the lovely ending of that track as the end of the entire album, which is just perfect. It matches the soft statements of Rey's theme in the TFA Finale OST ending (and the TLJ Finale ending) in instrumentation and thematically.
 
I'm guessing the Main Title and Throne Room section is there is so that he can play that ending in concerts and not have to repeat the Star Wars Main Title suite as a separate piece, which gives audiences a double dose of the beginning of the end credits. That was a weird programming issue when he debuted the TFA suite with the Boston Pops—you got the rolling thunder section of the end credits in both the Star Wars Main Title piece and the Jedi Steps and Finale.

Agreed. The Finale is a hot mess. This end credit suite goes down as one of the worst of the series (maybe THE worst) along side Revenge of the Sith.  So disappointing especially when we know that Williams more than capable of weaving together brilliant end credits suites.

My first listen through = a great OST!  I can't believe how fresh and vibrant Williams sounds here.  "The Rise of Skywalker" is an instant classic, both the themes and the concert arrangement itself.  "Speeder Chase" is another amazing entry in the canon of Williams action cues.
 
But "The Jedi Steps and Finale" remains my favorite final track for *any* Star Wars score across all three trilogies.

Finale starts off sounding just like the Last Jedi finale, then we get the classic end credits opening, the Rise of Skywalker Theme, the Imperial March, Rey's Theme, the trio theme... then the freaking Main Title march again..... then some of the Throne Room concert arrangement? Then the traditional end credits ending at a slightly different tempo.   I dunno, this started as a nice medley then got kinda rote by the end.
 
I kind of feel a shorter medley would be more impact.  The first thing I'd drop would be The Imperial March, as while it's a sweet new re-recording (faster paced, I think), it's still the old arrangement.  The Rey's theme section, however, is new and TERRIFIC, I am glad he is still finding ways to rework that theme.

Hmmmmm, gotta say my first reaction to "Finale" is not super positive.

Maybe they hired Hans Zimmer and we are looking for the wrong composer.

Finally! Not sure how I feel about that cover art though... 
 

I think what you’re meant to understand is that Williams normally doesn’t do double CDs and chooses what music he wants you to have.

the biggest crime is movies like Avengers readily get a 2 c.d. deluxe edition and we're still stuck in the 1980's with the same 1 c.d OST.
 
This is Star Wars and John  Williams, why are these thing not considered? Would have been a nice ending to finally get our expanded edition right away
