Amer got a reaction from crumbs in MONSIGNOR - 2019 Intrada Edition features expanded film score
Matessino just mentioned (at FSM) that like JAWS, ET. and DRACULA they had to source the MONSIGNOR's 1/4 " Album master tapes from the UK UMG archives.-as the original tapes may have been lost in the LA warehouse fire.

The OST remaster sounds better than the 2007 version, it's warmer and more natural (i.e. less loud).
The film version presentation sounds significantly better, it's a crisp, warm Tomlinson recording that finally shines.

Just picked this up at the mail box, sounds fantastic so far! Ten minutes of unheard music per MM's notes.

The trumpet main theme as heard in the end credits (opening track on the album) has certainly some of those Southern Italian-esque traits in common with the famous "Godfather Waltz", so perhaps that was a suggestion from the temp track. The similarities however pretty much end there. The score doesn't sound anything like The Godfather.
(I'd love to know what Nino Rota thought of John Williams, though. He was very knowledgeable on Hollywood film composers, Alfred Newman was his favourite).

If recent (2015 - present) patterns tell us anything, it's that non-marquee, single disc scores (Stanley & Iris, Cowboys, Monsignor, SPR) are released earlier in the year and the "tentpole", multi-disc releases (Home Alone, Jaws, JP, ET, CEOTK, Dracula, SL, HP) usually come out September - November time frame, Superman being the exception.
Hook would definitely fall under the latter category, both in score quality and demand. Far & Away is a great score but not exactly a great movie. I'm not as familiar with F&A but I believe an expanded release would be a 2-disc set? That might qualify it for a release later in the year. Same goes with Amistad possibly now that I think of it. A perfect contender for a single-disc, non-marquee release would be Always, I highly doubt we would see an expansion of that during Black Friday season! LOL
Taking my detective hat off now, always fun to speculate!

Certainly makes his comments last year seem rather... ironic?
Not so one-dimensional after all, it would seem!

I went through Intrada's entire back catalogue. I am almost positive this is Monsignor, since Intrada did say they had Williams coming up. And the original Monsignor blurb of theirs said,
"World CD premiere of pivotal John Williams soundtrack to Frank Perry drama with Christopher Reeve, Genevieve Bujold. After string of wildly popular scores for fantasy & adventure movies (JAWS, STAR WARS, SUPERMAN, RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK, E.T.) John Williams gets initial opportunity to offer serious, involved work. Important landmarks include expressive solo trumpet theme plus dense, somber string writing that foreshadows later JFK, NIXON, MUNICH music. Magnificent highlight: powerful "Gloria" for full orchestra plus massive choir with organ! Space opera fans will be happy Williams also manages nod to signature style with rousing "Meeting in Sicily" music, replete with allegro woodwinds, soaring French horns, resplendent brass fanfares. Composer prepares original 1982 LP with nearly complete score, omits only 3 minutes of music but adds 10 minutes not used in movie. Intrada presents dynamic CD from original master elements courtesy UMG. John Williams conducts London Symphony Orchestra."

So this seems very likely. I wonder if the added 10 minutes were cues that went unused in the film, or concert arrangements like those five cues (~15 minutes) on Jane Eyre that weren't in the film. If the latter, it makes perfect sense that the complete film recording *and* original album would fit on a single disc here. If they were unused cues originally in the film (with the possibility of other ones existing that were left off both film and album), I might be more unsure of the ability to fit both programs on a single CD.
Literally the only other remaining early 80s LP releases reissued on CD by Intrada that haven't been already expanded later (i.e. Jaws 3-D) are Barry's The Lone Ranger (but Intrada put out the CD premiere only last year and it's still available from them, so can't be this IMO) and Fox's 9 to 5, which apparently has a good amount of additional music recently included on the Twilight Time isolated score track, so definitely an outside chance of this though it would I think require 2 CDs and Roger didn't mention that detail:

Jon mentioned to me that it's getting harder to get to Williams these days plus his current schedule is so busy as he finishing up Episode 9, I'm not surprised. I just asked him if he knows anything about a cd release of all of this new music when the rides open.
