If Adele does the theme to "Skyfall"....

Sounds VERY much like the Arnold/Bassey production "No Good About Goodbyes".

Also, is this the first Bond title song since the early Barry days to quote the Bond theme directly? I think it is. Upon first listening, I like it more than the crappy Another Way To Die, and maybe more than Casino Royale.

No way, "You Know My Name" is definitely better than this one.

Found a place online I could hear it

It's alright, kinda boring. It's too slow. The first Bond film in FOUR YEARS (the longest gap ever when not switching main actors) should have a fast, upbeat song, not a slow ballad, IMHO

I didn't realize they'd be so blatant in referencing the original Bond theme in the new song. Still sounds good though.

That's not new for Bond songs though, it's REALLY blatant in Goldfinger.

I kinda like that it's slow. The last two were pretty aggressive, and I like them a lot (even AWTD), but some of the best songs in the Bond canon are relatively restrained.

BUT... and this is merely a guess... I suspect it's going to end with her belting it out, Tom Jones-style.

Glady's Knight's License to Kill quotes the Bond theme.

Doesn't sound like a real melody is in there, let's see if there is in the rest of it, and if Newman uses it in his score. The separation from score and title song really annoys me.

Adele's song isn't as good as the my favorite Bond song,

Nobody Does it Better.

Her voice is great, but Adele could afford to lose a bit of weight. She has a few good songs (like her breakout hit), but I can't see the love for her entire discography. Her style isn't my thing, I suppose.

Nothing wrong with a bit of weight. Also it adds to her charm

In a time where more and more artists feel like carbon copies of each other, and feel like they're being formulatically designed in record label offices, Adele is something different.

Nor is not being a dick, apparently.

Anyways. I like the little bit of the song I heard. Proves what we all knew, Adele's voice is perfect for a Bond song. It's a bit slow though.

No, Donna Simpson, New Jersey's aspiring "World's Fattest Woman," could afford to lose a bit of weight, seeing as how she wants to eat and eat to become over 1,000 pounds (71 stone).

Adele is as curvy as the girl next door, which still makes her sexy.

I doubt Adele could have broken through if Labels weren't looking for the next "Amy Winehouse" though....

Why? Kelly Clarkson has kept a respectable position in the charts, while other, skinnier American Idol winners have fallen off the face of the earth, and she hasn't been the skinniest thing all these years. Amy Winehouse was an anorexic-looking headcase and a freak of nature. The local crackhouse would be a fine place to find more women with her skin and bones appearance.

I'm talking about the voice and style of her music. Before Winehouse the "lived though it all" soul voice supported by jazzy arrangements was not really on the chart pop-music wise. After the success of Back To Black lot of studio's went looking for something similar.

True, but like I said; she doesn't feel like something that was designed or calculated. She feels like the real thing.

At least she looks like an actual human being.

On the song: Sounds ok. That's all I'm saying for now.

Now, where is the real thing, where is Newman's score?

I apologize for what I said earlier (the weight comment)... I should've thought about it thoroughly before posting. But I go by what I said about her popularity. Her voice is good, but her overall style (soul/R&B/rock) just isn't my cup of tea.

I think Adele could really be a great indie or classical singer if she wants to dabble in it.

we should all wait to hear the complete song, and sometimes a song needs several listenings before it clicks.

Absolutely true. I hated -- and I do mean HATED -- "You Know My Name" the first time I heard it, but then when the movie itself came out and I saw it, I liked the song a lot better. It's one of my favorites now.

I'm going to do my absolute best to avoid Adele's song until the movie comes out; I'd like to hear it fresh.

People like you suck. Really. Eff off.

Props.

As if this guy would come down as hard on male performers for their weight issues. He's seeing Adele more as a sex object than as a singer. Disgusting.

I wasn't a fan of "Another Way To Die" until a few months ago. It's good when you realize it's just another Jack White song without trying to shoehorn it into Bond.

I actually like the song. More than Arnold's own snoozefest from Casino Royale. Now that was underwhelming.

Shoehorn it?Their task was to write a Bond song, not "just another Jack White song".
