Aren't there only a few minor cues missing from the FSM release? I am quite delighted with that release.

Many don't have it and would welcome a rerelease. Me included.

Re-release of The Towering Inferno would be more than welcome.

Seriously I don't want Towering Inferno again

Well of course you don't but there are quite a few of us who didn't have a chance to get it the time it was first released by FSM.

I've bought The Towering Inferno back when FSM first released it and I won't mind Lalaland (or any other label) re-issueing it. I will probably double dip on it if and when it happens, but I can always save the money for other releases I want to get.

They'll announce it a week before it goes on sale.

Not really. Hook was announced a month before it was released. Same thing with the other of their releases of the Maestro's work.

KM, you're not the only person that matters. Whether you're pleased with the current The Towering Inferno release or don't really like Earthquake doesn't mean they shouldn't be remastered and/or expanded for score fans.

I'd happily buy both of those because I don't have the original CD releases.

I own the original Earthquake CD now but I would gladly get the complete score if it was released. And Towering Inferno is the one score I don't own yet along with Conrack and Paper Chase.

I would love TinTin - the complete recordings!

Though that is nearly impossible I would not object. Oh and it's Tintin!

Towering Inferno is probably #1 on my list. Not only do I not own it physically, but I've never heard it except for bits of the main title (that I mostly don't remember). I'm waiting until it gets an official release.

The main title is among the best that score has to offer. A lot of the music is pop and lounge variety, which really is common with all of three of the early 1970's disaster movie scores Williams did. They alternate between very terse suspenseful dramatic underscore and very source music like jazz, lounge and pop music pieces with a couple of very dramatic highlights of bigger writing thrown in.

yes, agrees there's a few great cues in Towering Inferno. Main Titles is one of his best ever

but some cues were already "damaged". unless better element are found I doubt there's going to be much of an improvement.

Anyways if Williams is involved, the Fitzwilly release proves it's not one of his early minor scores he cares about supervising

No one else is thinking JFK? I've been meaning to buy it but used prices have creeped up in the last month or so with the upcoming anniversary.

Yeah it is a WB title and I would not mind an expansion (I have no idea how much extra music there is, probably 15 to 20 minutes tops).

Quickly! Call specialists in each and every remaining unreleased and unexpanded John Williams score to the JWFan cave! Time is of the essence!

An excellent idea. I am going to spin that list off into it's own thread with more information. Stay tuned everybody!

I think that for JFK we might have a whole other set of recording sessions. I believe Williams wrote and recorded some main pieces prior to filming, so that Stone could use them while shooting the film. He later returned to record again some of that material do it would better fit the final edit. Or so I think. Feel free to correct me though.

I think so too. Some of the music fits far too well the scenes it is meant for to be just fortuitous accident or good music editing.

Can't wait for this score, but I am bummed that one of our planned BLACK FRIDAY titles is now delayed until 2014 due to Mr Williams work on this project.

Well, at least we get a new work by him in 2013 and one expanded reissue in 2014!

MV

Well, the Maestro has completed his work on The Book Thief. Now, we wait for the announcement from LLL.

So are we finally getting Close Encounters or The Towering Inferno? I'm not liking the relatively low pressing numbers for the titles this year, if either one of those is among them. They're going to sell out fast.

Did you read the quote from MV Johnny just reposted? The Williams title is coming next year, not Black Friday.

La-La Land announces their titles exactly 1 week before they go on sale, Johnny

What about Hook? That was announced a month in advance, if memory serves me right.

Well if it's just #1 we already heard all the music, so it's just a technicality of buying it in c.d. form

The question is how many years before they reach Azcaban
