They might play a much less prominent role than the one they played in the previous six installments, but I highly doubt they'll have been destroyed, or will be during the film. They're simply too adored by the average STAR WARS fan to have that happen to them.

BB8 should assassinate both of the old droids by a roll-by attack, gunning them down and then disappearing from the frame and then the movie goes on as if nothing had happened.

3P0 was behind it all. He blew up Alderaan.

It will be the film's climactic finale, complete with the most brilliant cue Williams has ever written. He will intertwine BB8's motif with the droid motif from the start of ROTJ, in the vein of ROTS intertwining the Imperial March with the Funeral Theme.

Of course, Williams has omitted it from the OST to accommodate a 13 minute suite of Leia's Theme, The Throne Room and a recap of the concert suites from the start of the album.

Naturally because that cue didn't belong in the listening experience he intended for the audience who need a few more re-recordings of the old themes for nostalgia.

Well, people sure as hell didn't buy the OST for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull to hear Ivanka's Theme; they want to hear two (almost) identical renditions of The Raiders March as bookends!

Williams is merely reducing himself to the lowly pond-scum standards of the mass audience.

Irina's Theme!

But I would not mind hearing Ivanka's theme either.

A super-trailer is here!

Well, the lightsaber passing shot is missing, and so is Rey looking up at the ships flying overhead. Lame.

Here's a way better supercut of all the trailers than that previous one I posted

Still not Rey looking at the ships overhead shot, though

I wonder if they'll avoid the word Sith in the new film series. It was never spoken in the OT, but peppered everywhere in the prequel trilogy without ever explaining much about it.
