Popular Post Gruesome Son of a Bitch 6,488
Yup, I'm posting about this. Every time I see a gloriously specky film like the trailer posted above, I get a bit giddy. Movies just don't look correct anymore. In the cinema, there'd be specks. On home video prior to Blu ray, there'd be specks. In many cases, sudden excessive specks were an indication of a special effects shot. Now that the specks have been eliminated, everything looks less like a film and more like one of Drax's soap operas. Holko 9,526
I love when in film films, you can tell there's a transition coming because the quality and colour grade suddenly changed shot to shot. Ricard and SteveMc

Unlucky Bastard 7,782
I miss the 90s when anamorphic films had that weird warped anamorphic look. They seemed to have ironed out the bugs in the lenses since then, but they looked special and imperfect back then.

Slightly different shots, and the music is cut a little differently as well. I'd say this is a better version than that trailer on those home releases. Holko 9,526
You do know the specks are not inherent to the filmic format and were never intended to be there, they're dirt and dust because the projector keeping man didn't keep the strip clean enough? Unlucky Bastard 7,782
3 minutes ago, Wojism said: And they had the nerve to call them full frame. Depends on the movie. Often an open matte film technically was presented in "full frame" if it was a 4:3 release. Early Warner DVDs did this using flipper discs, with the anamorphically enhanced 16:9 version on one side, and the 4:3 full frame version on the other side. Of course, pan and scan is utterly unacceptable on a film shot in anamorphic, but films shot in Super 35 and reframed for television are doing exactly what they were designed for. Gruesome Son of a Bitch 6,488
Pan and scan was nauseating in Ghostbusters. When SW was rereleased with slightly different framing, you saw new bits left off the old FOX video releases. Letterbox looked cool.
