Popular Post Lewya 361 Posted December 11, 2015 Popular Post Posted December 11, 2015 ADMIN NOTE: First Video from December 10 Second video from December 13 Original main post:~Omg!Short video of Williams conducting a bit of the new Star Wars score here! - http://deadline.com/2015/12/star-wars-jj-abrams-steven-spielberg-recommended-1201664881/Six weeks before the premiere, 60 Minutes watched as Abrams raced around a Hollywood soundstage, phone in hand, recording video mementos of composer John Williams at work on the movie’s score. Abrams grew up listening to recordings of Williams’ iconic movie scores, so he wanted to capture the composer in action. “This is like, momentous…as a fan, I can’t even believe I got to be here,” says Abrams, who was 11 when he first sat mesmerized in a theater watching the original Star Wars. crocodile, Jay, Muad'Dib and 2 others 5

Not Mr. Big 4,818 Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 I had a feeling we'd get something today. Sounds great!
Loert 2,952 Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 Incredible!I love the way he plays with Luke's theme. At one point it's heroic, at another point it's menacing...it's just great!
Not Mr. Big 4,818 Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 I'm sure it won't please those stuck in the past but it sounds like a whopper of an action cue.
Director of Poltergeist 8,127 Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 Sounds awesome! Oh my Roddenberry, we're so close now!
KK 3,310 Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 Wonderful stuff!Also great to see the endearing boy-ish enthusiasm from J.J. WilliamHorne97 1
Richard P 4,779 Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 Awesome Seeing JJ and JW interact - that's genuinely interesting.Unfortunately, I'm receiving the OST for Christmas, so I've taken a vow not to listen to this on release day. ...Maybe just Rey's theme.
KK 3,310 Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 Can't wait till KM comes in and complains about how much the OST will suck anyway! Not Mr. Big 1
KK 3,310 Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 That confirms it!! JJ ghost-wrote the score! SafeUnderHill 1
Richard P 4,779 Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 Don't they project the film so they can see how it will line up?At least he's recording it like that, rather than a music editor having to loop it.
Popular Post Cerebral Cortex 3,362 Posted December 11, 2015 Popular Post Posted December 11, 2015 Not entirely convinced Williams wrote the music in this video... SafeUnderHill, Brónach and Scarpia 3
BuzzLightyear 143 Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 It's so incredible!! The music sounds really fresh! Can't wait to hear more...

King Mark 3,834 Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 better save this in case it's unreleased music (3/4 chance) SafeUnderHill 1
Lewya 361 Posted December 11, 2015 Author Posted December 11, 2015 Yeah, it sounds great! Sounds like it will be as least as great as the best prequel score based on this little bit. Of course that is silly because it is so little but it is the vibe I am getting. Can someone download the video and put it on YouTube by the way?
King Mark 3,834 Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 quick before it's taken down and we can never hear it again!
karelm 3,191 Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 Nice find! So this is a promo, right? The full story will be this Sundays 60 minutes? What a busy weekend this will be. :D
Not Mr. Big 4,818 Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 I'm getting a bit of a Tintin/KOTCS/Lighter bits of ROTS feel. Some sick low brass writing. Cerebral Cortex 1
King Mark 3,834 Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 I thought William Ross was conducting
mrbellamy 7,329 Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 I'm sure it won't please those stuck in the past but it sounds like a whopper of an action cue. I think the tempo is a little slow for an action cue...sounds more like a "preparing for battle" type cue to me.Not to split hairs

Balahkay 629 Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 Can't wait to hear this in stereo!I thought William Ross was conductingFrom my understanding, he conducted some of it. Nobody knows how much, yet. Williams apparently isn't having any trouble conducting here. Great to see that.
Joni Wiljami 1,233 Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 Where are gggyver, thegreyshit, BB8 and publishit bashing this video? They are getting old

Code 000. Destruct. 0. 4,261 Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 Why the fuck would I bash it? When have I said anything negative about any of this? Get your head out of your ass you moron.
Jay 42,493 Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 Wow,Williams looks great!Such a tiny bit of music really doesn't tell me anything about a scoreSo, its great to see Williams looking so good, and great to see a director so fanatic about his music. This is great! JasonTHX and karelm 2

Romão 2,428 Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 Do you guys reckon the brass fanfare at 00:56 could be a new theme or is it a merely incidental passage?
mrbellamy 7,329 Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 I could see that going a lot of ways. Maybe it's the beginning of a theme, or just a recurring action motif for one sequence.I have to admit I was slightly disappointed when Luke's theme kicked in for the first cue because I thought it was gonna be the new Resistance march
Balahkay 629 Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 Maybe the first cue is one of the rejected cues?
DarthDementous 1,425 Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 I really like that second cue with the low strings, reminds me a lot of Vader's first theme from ANH and subsequent music from the Deathstar. Sounds very Empire and flavors of the OT.Can't not talk about the first (action?) cue though, really nice rendition of Luke's Theme/Main Star Wars Theme that even begins to sound a bit menacing at some point. Then the third cue, which could be a part of the second cue sounds a lot like JW's Harry Potter work which is fantastic, I like that magical sort of whimsical sound that it has. Could be a celeste playing, John Williams certainly loves those.
Not Mr. Big 4,818 Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 From The Jedi Council Boards... I still prefer all of the "modern" arrangements heard during all of the trailers to any of the confirmed Williams snippets. His stuff just doesn't have the density of sound I've come to prefer over the years. The music in the most recent Chinese trailer was especially top notch. It didn't really sound like Williams tho
Balahkay 629 Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 His or her loss. This is excellent music.
