  1. I was at Birmingham Symphony Hall on Friday night watching the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra do a film music program (Some Williams). Just after Battle of the Heroes was performed the presenter, Tommy Pearson (think he works at Classic FM) said "John Williams will be returning to London to record the new Star Wars score this summer". What does he know that we don't?

  2. Would anyone be interesting in hearing a piano/ harp recording of williams harp concerto? I'm thinking about recording the reduced version for piano and harp. Is it a very popular piece?

  3. I've been to a performance of Philip Glass's Akhnaten produced by the Flemish Opera today. While I didn't really find the costumes (some were utterly ridiculous) and some aspects of the staging appealing (although I have to say both did have their merits) the music was performed with the energy and devotion it deserves, often reaching truly breathtaking highlights. I was particularly impressed by the music for Amenhotep III's funeral (which is almost enchanting with its sinister harmony) and the temple scene (mostly due to the ominous, almost horror-evoking tritone-driven harmony in the second half). A little side note: the trumpet motif heard throughout the first half of the piece (at 4:47, for example) is very reminiscent of Williams Epilogue for War of the Worlds.

  5. I'm so, so hoping the "Luke and Leia" theme gets the amount of use it deserves. Such an amazing theme, and so barely used.

  9. Most tedious awful film we have ever sat through. It's unanimously praised but I don't actually know a single person who liked it or cared.

  10. This just happened to me lol. I knocked one out but couldn't pick up her gun then got mowed down by the others. These types of horror games wear thin incredibly easy, I have to be in a very specific mood to play. I instantly turned it off and put in GTAV.

  13. Mhm yeah, his Potter movies were a real mixed bag. I hope the storytelling will hold together a little better, at least, with Rowling writing directly for the screen, but I would have much preferred they went with Cuaron or someone completely new.
