Just imagine the amazing action cues Williams wrote which we won't get to hear outside of the movie because they won't be on the OST!

Guys…there’s a (probably) completed 5th Indy score in the world now!

I think that's wrong. Just because the material is harmonically unadventurous - one's mind wanders to the long monophonic passage at the beginning of act III/scene two of Siegfried - doesn't mean it doesn't forward the storytelling through the leitmotif "language".

I thought he said in the 4th post that he still wanted to do an additional post for every episode (so 8 more).

Well in this show Galadriel is an awful, awful amoral, manipulative, entitled, whiny, self-centered, self-important, empty poxy pseudo-wisdom spouting character who does not care for anything or anyone but her revenge and can't answer a single question with a straight answer (problem with so many other characters in this show as well), so I guess they turned that on its head.  Looks fair but feels foul. Which I guess could be said about the whole show. What a disaster.

I'd love to know whether he intends to use the same approach for future seasons (i. e. no additional composers, full orchestra for every cue etc.). I hope this is not an off-limit question.

Per my previous point about how most shows (no matter how good) tend to have rocky starts, I'm sure we will see an improvement from now on, but I pray that they drop the "mystery box" approach immediately. At some point I started to keep track of how many mysteries they introduced, and this is ridiculous.
Ep 1: What is the sigil? What is the sword? Who is The Stranger?
Ep 2: Who is Halbrand? What’s in the pouch? What’s in the box? What are The Stranger’s symbols?
Ep 3: Who is Adar? What are the Orcs after? Who is Isildur hearing? What is the “real Númenor”? What is Míriel so afraid of?
Ep 4: What are the lies Adar speak of? What is Waldreg’s deal?
Ep 5: What are the Mystics, and what do they want with The Stranger? What’s up with the Sauron/sword statue?
Ep 6: What is the history of Adar and Halbrand? Has Adar killed Sauron?
Ep 7: What happened to Isildur? What happened to Celebrimbor? Did the balrog just awake?
Ep 8: No seriously, what’s in the pouch???

I definitely go back to the first movie DE more but my judgement is clouded by what I think of the 2nd movie which, without getting into it, is _nowhere_ near as good as the 1st in my opinion. The 2nd Deluxe is still a good release and a good expansion, whereas the 1st Deluxe was definitely a huge improvement on a technical level over the initial OST release.

Opinions vary, but HTTYD 2 is my all time favorite animated score. Compared to the first, it's bigger, more orchestral and more swashbuckling; very balls to the wall.

Personally, I was mostly able to overlook the bad writing in this series for the first 5 episodes, because I was willing to do that in order to get a bit of Tolkienian atmosphere every week. As such, it's only in the last 2 weeks or so that I've even been complaining about this show. That said, I don't think the fact that people are still complaining after 7 episodes necessarily makes them "trolls" or "haters." In my mind, what makes someone a hater is the way they express their criticisms and how open they are/were to changing their minds.

I may not like this series, but I can still admit that it's done some things right. I like the visuals, the casting, the sets, the costumes, the locations... I just think the entire writing staff should be sacked. That's all. If they did that, I could easily see this becoming a show I like in a later season. Maybe it will. Either way, I LOVE the themes Bear McCreary has written for this series and for that reason more than any other, I can't completely begrudge its existence.

Yeah, he probably hates writing Celtic music after doing it for 4 seasons of Battlestar and 6 seasons of Outlander...
