On Maurizio's podcast earlier this year, Mike indicated he already had 5 new John Williams expansions mastered (and approved by Williams) that he intended to have come out this year

A little while later after the first two of those (Presumed Innocent and SpaceCamp) came out, he came back on Maurizio's podcast and indicated the next 2 should still be out this year but that one wouldn't be out till next year

A little while later on Maurizio's podcast again, he now indicated one was coming for Black Friday and the other was delayed until next year

It is not the fault of anyone at the specialty label, or the producer of the expansions, or the composer of the music, that 2 of the planned 5 titles got delayed until next year

The fault entirely lies with the managers, lawyers, and other types at these huge corporate entities that need to sign off on these things.  The specialty labels and their producers are at the mercy of these people and can't really do anything to make them act faster.

Everything already mastered will certainly come out, and more new expansions are being assembled, mastered, and approved all the time, and they'll come out as the people who need to finally give their approval.

In the meantime LLL nicely chose to spend the effort to get Close Encounters, ET, and Jurassic Park back in print for all the fans who missed their earlier editions, and Williams himself has filled the year with new compositions and concerts, and DG has released music recorded last year.

2022 is one of the biggest years for Williams releases there is when you look at all the music labels combined.

The fact we're only getting three new MM expansions is unfortunate, but you can't really blame anything for that except corporate beurocracy.  The people who care about about getting these out did their part long ahead of time.

Yes as much as I can.  I do that with all the Lucasfilm movies, and in general most movies I really care about.   Sometimes I accidentally drill through a post and happen upon a spoiler, which is a drag.

    Damn you!!!!

It's not a whole different take. The showrunners have said on many occasions that they want to make something that can be appreciated alongside the existing movies, it's just too legally complicated to connect directly to them for now.

Looks good and I like James Mangold, but.... I just don't have any faith in Lucasfilm anymore after the last few years of shitty Star Wars projects.

My wife is going to buy this for me when it comes out. We'll listen to it nonstop for a few days, laugh at how the Prologue still plays at the wrong speed and she'll say, "The members of that old JWFan forum would have loved this release."

I'll turn toward her my voice filled with sadness and reply "I know, but they're all dead."

    Yea, it was silly.

The thing is, even without the bizarre expression on her face totally killing the scene, even before that, the slow motion was already pointless and out of place to begin with. It should have just taken a few seconds to cover their travel out of the city across the nice landscape, but focusing on the ride, with slow motion (something the show hasn't done elsewhere that I recall), was an odd idea that I don't really get.

Bayona didn't have werid stuff like this in his two episodes.

I seem to recall a fairly prominent film reviewer at the time said something about Williams score “never shutting up.”

I can listen to it without comparing it to other Middle Earth music. There are times when it’s hard to listen and not make mental comparisons to other McCreary works however.

I’ve never heard anyone call this score “the greatest” anything, but it is definitely head and shoulders above most other TV scoring and definitely better than an RCP approach to Middle Earth would be.
