The possibility of Corellia Chase, perhaps my favorite action track in a score filled with great action music, being actually written by Batu Sener with Powell's only role being listening to what his assistant did and going like "yep, sounds great, now on to the recording stage!" still haunts me to this day.

I do like the swirly strings in that - nicely conveys a sense of panic. I'm not too hot on JNH when he goes really modern with action, or just does lots of brass/percussion stabs.
 
Am I alone in finding the wide-angled, handheld camera very effective, or am I just tolerating a modern filmmaking trend?

THE FIRES OF POMPEII was a great story, and it brought Donna's whole ethos, to the fore. 

I absolutely LOVE this score. The other two are also amazing, but the third one hits me right in the feels. Can't wait for the expansion!

The thing is that I think some people misinterpreted what the franchise was about. Fantastic Beasts was literally the prologue, introducing Newt Scamander.
 
The "main story" is about Grindelwald and the threat that he posed to the world. This story was already being set up in the first movie with Grindelwald being the main antagonist and the anti muggle politics being central to the plot. Grindelwald is already shown in the first scene of the first movie, where he wipes out 12 people. It always seemed pretty clear to me that the franchise wasn't about cuddly beasts but that that was an aspect of it given who Newt is as a character. So personally I always had trouble understanding why some people were so surprised that the movies became darker. The first movie was the setup.
 
I do think that naming the franchise Fantastic Beasts was a mistake as it probably gave people the wrong idea about the main story though but I guess it made sense to have one recognizable name for all the movies.

Why do some people celebrate that a movie franchise appears to be cancelled? If it wasn’t your cup of tea, just ignore them.
 
Loved the first 2 films and thought the third one was a let down because of the clearly changed story. Anyway hope the Grindelwald Dumbledore story gets told somehow and that JNH can return to finish or expand his music in the wizarding world.

I think TFA and TROS are the 2 best scores out of the 4.

I guess both will be released simultaneously. And if we're really really really really lucky, we get both ones this year or early next year.
 
I hope Russel reminds Gold that he also still has to release: Years And Years, It's A Sin, Torchwood: Series 4, Gentleman Jack... the original synth music from DW Series 1, more music from Series 2-8. And A LOT MORE MUSIC FROM SERIES 9!!!

With it getting closer to the release of the Specials there is no news on the Series 10 soundtrack

Is there any word on when the 60th concert will be available to watch? I can't find anything other than just it'll be "at a later date", but I'd love to watch the orchestra in action.
 
Gosh this has ramped up my anticipation. I haven't felt this excited about new Who since the lead-up to Moffat/Smith's first season.

I listened through the whole concert, it was wonderful. I love the new material - Fifteen’s theme is something special IMO. Very influenced by “I Am The Doctor” - relentlessly pulsing, energetic and fun - but with a dangerous edge to it. It’s fresh and it’s very very interesting, shades of a mad marching band about it. Can’t wait to hear it in action.

I just want to highlight how wonderful this is. For me this is almost as exciting as Williams returning for SW and Indy in the last few years; we’re about to get some really good brand new music for Doctor Who again for the first time in a while. That’s worth celebrating! I can’t wait to see what Gold whips up after taking some time off. I reckon it’s going to be brilliant.

I'm shocked how negative of a reception this show seems to have on the wider internet, even in the comments of the post you linked. I thought it was maybe a bit long but I enjoyed it for what it was.
 
I get how people might not have liked it because it strayed too far from the source material or made choices they didn't like or whatever, but I don't understand the vocal group that wants to shit on it as much as possible, especially a *year* after it stopped airing. Why spend so much mental energy thinking about something you hate?
 
Hopefully the show keeps getting renewed so we can get even more of Bear McCreary's score 

I am a huge fan of sequencers and loops and stuff, but it needs to be done right. Like Berlin School sequencers (Tangerine Dream and such), various EDM artists and things like that. Or funky synthwave things, using Roland T-808, the Linndrum or other vintage drum machines. The Remote Control/trailer music ostinato thing, which I'm guessing is what you're referring to, is very uninteresting.
 
There isn't really any one element that I dislike in music; it all depends on how it's being used. Even bag pipes.

Interesting to see how my answers have shifted (or not) over time.
 
My current top picks, just going off of the end credits themselves:
ANH: Classic, giddy, and romantic. Perfection. ESB: Outstanding variations on the new themes for Yoda, Vader, and Han/Leia, all expertly woven together. TFA: Juggles a whopping 5 new themes without just rehashing the score. In addition to simply being extraordinary music, these three are the most unique/indispensable compared to the other tracks on their albums. They're also some of the best musical summaries of their respective films/scores. But the others are all varying degrees of superb too.

EDIT: Oops, sorry, you were just asking about the first six films. I'm actually unsure what would come after ESB … at the moment I'm leaning toward TPM.

He's writing stream-of-consciousness. As someone with ADHD I find it extremely relatable. He's watching and writing as a fan, as a producer, as a writer, all at the same time.

In episode 5 there was a beautiful Force theme statement, which no doubt will be on Vol. 2
