Looking forward to this, way better than Spielberg volume III.

Really can't wait for this album. Something about it being Williams' alma mater orchestra as well as being conducted by his successor makes this release feel much more "legit" than other non-Williams-conducted compilation albums. All the preview clips sound amazing. Especially excited to finally get the concert version of "The Jedi Steps"!

Very nice! The North Texas Wind Symphony is an excellent ensemble. This is one of my favorite Williams fanfares, personally.

Some, like Goldenthal rehearsing the orchestra before the Krakow concert a few years ago. Even more theatre rehearsals and performances, including my own. Even at the very last stage of rehearsals, there are big differences. If not on a technical level, then on a passionate level.

Well, I disagree. There is something unique that happens when an orchestra is in front of an audience, just as there's a difference between actors acting on a stage and in a movie. I studied theatre theory once upon a time, and there was a lot of literature about this. Something in the space between musicians and audience that elevates the whole thing; gives it more of a presence. I'll take a studio recording and I'll take a live recording, but I would feel cheated if I got a rehearsal recording -- no matter how good it was.

True, but wouldn't it take all the energy out of them when they have the "real" concert coming up?

Rehearsals? Are you serious? That's like eating the cake before it's been baked! The concert is where the musicians go the extra mile.

I think that may have to do with union regulations. It's cheaper to record the live concert. Rehearsal would probably count as a regular studio recording.

Yes... What's the matter with that? Some of the most exciting performances occur live.
I'm still waiting on their release of the Trumpet Concerto. Not sure what's taking so long.
Back on topic, perhaps this release has been pushed back to June 9 so they have time to throw in some music from this May 24 concert (which has the same title as the album)?

You should check out the one by the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra with Jouko Harjanne as the soloist. It is a great one.

curlytoot reacted to CGCJ in Star Wars "Rebels" - Kevin Kiner Returns!
Is there anyone else here who actually enjoys the score to Star Wars Rebels? If so, I have created a document to list all of the released music:

Comments, corrections and other feedback are of-course very much welcome.

But your OCD towards this type of thing, especially towards new members, does tend to grate Jason.
Why don't you concentrate on making JWFan a positive place that we can all enjoy?

Even if it isn't a song, there's a better way of pointing it out than the way it typically gets done around here.
