  1. Can you recommend an alternative site I can order Lalaland CDs from?
I've been trying to place an order for over a month without success.

Since Paypal is blocked in my country, ordering through ther site's Paypal checkout is impossible. I mailed twice without answer and called them several times but only get a fax signal.

MV has personally taken my orders by phone in the past, but I've had a very hard time getting in contact with them.

    Any help would be appreciated.

  2. Refloating this thread to ask if anyone knows wether they're back from the holidays at Lalaland.
Last time I followed @Amer's advice and MV was so kind to take my order personally by phone.

I've mailed them to try to order some more CDs but got no answer this time. Also, the answering machine used to have a message. But I called today and only got a what I believe is a Fax signal (?).

    Thanks!

  3. First of all I'm sorry if this isn't the correct forum to ask this.

I'm having trouble finishing a purchase through the lalaland website. I wanted to benefit from the ongoing 25% discount across the site. I've been trying to checkout unssuccesfully for a purchase upwards of $100USD.
I've called the credit card and the bank, and they assured me it's neither of them stopping the purchase. The problem appears to lie with Paypal, the payment service in the site, beign blocked in my country (Argentina) by the government.

Is there any way of buying their CDs while benefitting from the promotion? I've written before to their email adress about this same issue, but received no response.

  4. Could these recordings have something to do with avoiding certain reproduction rights for the originals? Seems weird, but I can't quite understand the need to rerecord them. Not that I'm complaining, (the more recorded versions out there, the more to choose from).

BTW, is that an edit at 3:23 of Harry's Wondrous World?

PS: Happy to hear a different approach, but count me Team Ritardando.

  5. I'm sorry if it's been discussed previously in this thread, but I found the compression of the regular CD so excessive it is incomprehensible to me that DG could issue the album as it is.

Just 27 seconds into the first track (Olympic fanfare...) were enough to notice something was off. I felt so confused by the muddy loud parts that I had to rip it to look at the sound wave. As you can see, it shows abundant compression, while maintaining a wide dynamic range (this is the Imperial March). But doesn't seem too bad from afar.

However, on closer inspection, the flat summits and valleys are all around in the louder moments.

That extreme compression can be found in every track. It's such a shame, because it's an extraordinary album, I love the performance, and of course such a meaningful historic event. I have experienced compression with DG releases before, but never at this level. I am very dissapointed.

Those of you who have listened to the other versions (DVD, vinyl) have experienced this too?
