Wow, Williams made quite a few changes from the original version!
 
I'm thinking the recording of the violin version might be for a seperate album and not specifically for the movie and soundtrack. I'm hoping for Across the Stars Vol. 2. At the end of the Superman recording sessions, Williams recorded The Fury album as he had finished recording Superman ahead of schedule and had sessions already booked. I'm kind of guessing this might be a similair situation. The version was written and ready and with Ann-Sophie being in town, perhaps Williams just took advantage of that to record the piece. Maybe!! Just my little conspiracy theory.

Can't imagine SIV in 4K. The matte lines on those flying sequences are going to be horrific.

JW wrote and recorded most of the score for an early, unfinished version of the film (before WETA finished the VFX).
 
As post-production continued, the edit and animation changed and the early score presumably didn't fit the finalised renders. So JW came back and rescored this newer version of the film. He didn't score the film from scratch, but I'd guess most cues needed timing adjustments and new recordings.
 
Would be interesting to know how many cues from the early sessions made it through to the final cut.

And people seem to forget Harrison suffered a serious shoulder injury only weeks into production. Of course the filmmakers wouldn't allow him to perform that whip-cracking motion in the shot above. Why take risks that might damage his recovery?
 
At least they've (seemingly) used a real whip-handler with stunt performers; they could've easily gone the CGI whip route for this shot.

Not this time. Just theatrical editions for all 4 Reeve films.

I would say that is a reason not to watch it (if that is your view), but not a reason to wish it out of existence.  I, for one, couldn't care less about some CGI patches and will enjoy (or hate) it on its own story/score merits.  

Harrison Ford is 80.  Statistically, most of us will be dead by then.  It is okay if he did not do any major stunts.  

After watching all Indy films over the last couple of days. One of my biggest wishes fkr the score is that Williams uses his Nazi theme from The Last Crusade. It's sooooo good.
 
Same goes with The Russian theme in 4. I always love how Williams' secondary themes are so good and catchy
