SyncMan got a reaction from 1977 in Why are there no recordings of any live to projection scores available?
Looks like the next best thing is to attend a rehearsal of a LTP concert where there's no film-audio. I’ve seen orchestras offer invites to rehearsals of classical concerts—called 'open rehearsals'. Some venues charge admission, while others are open to only the donors for the orchestra. I’ve never seen one done for an LTP concert. I thought us film-music fans were in on a breakthrough when I saw this from Tanglewood on an open rehearsal for a Harry Potter LTP concert…
…but the link is dead and this event is no longer in the Tangelwood schedule.
The Hollywood Bowl is legend for free access to their rehearsals. You can try attending a rehearsal of a LTP concert—there’s 'Psycho', 'Harry Potter...Deadly Hallows', '2001', 'SW:ROTJ', going on this summer.

SyncMan got a reaction from Brando in The Empire Strikes Back had two endings.
It may not have been discussed in this thread, but this news is no longer a surprise to most of us, as this alternate ending was discussed in detail in the 2010 J.W. Rinzler book, ‘The Making of the Empire Strikes Back.’ Die-hard Star Wars fans have known about the alternate ending long before the Rinzler book came out as discussed in these threads from the website, ‘Original Trilogy’ dating back to 2005.

Also, before David Morgan became a TV-news producer and author, he was a pre-teen film-music geek who snuck in a tape recorder, which at the time was no bigger than the size of a shoe-box, inside a movie theater and made an audio recording of an ESB screening during the first four weeks of its release. The cut that was shown during that time period had the alternate ending—where you do not hear the Luke theme from the ‘Yoda and the Force’ cue heard over the start of the Rebel Fleet scene and there is no mention of Jabba the Hut or 'that bounty hunter". Some years later, Morgan had the recordings digitized and shared it on his blog.

A fan made this re-creation of the alternate ending with the audio-theatre recording.

SyncMan got a reaction from ThePenitentMan1 in The Official "Album Presentation vs Complete & Chronological Presentation" Thread Round 2
My desire to buy complete film-score album releases came in the summer ’87 where I went to the movies for a double-bill-‘Masters of the Universe’ and ‘Monster Squad’. I enjoyed the action music in MOTU and I wanted to buy the album. I finally got it--the first album release by Varese--and I was disappointed that none of the action cues were on it.
Since then, I started watching rented VHS tapes where the music was of interest and making notes of the music cues (I would give it names and action descriptions) and the duration of each cue with a stop-watch. If I was interested in buying the CD, I would take my list and check it against the track-list on the CD cover at a record store. At that time, I didn’t take into consideration that the music heard in the film would have been edited down or that music-cues would be combined for the album.
The result of my idea of collecting the right CDs for me was a hit-or-miss. I was happy with ‘High Spirits’, but was disappointed with ‘The Fly II’. In the latter, the one cue I wanted to play on my stereo was not on the Varese CD. It’s where Brundle, Jr ransacks his room in searching for a hidden camera when he finds out that Bartok broke his promise on not having the kid under surveillance. Christopher Young’s music for that scene had some good fury coming from the orchestra.
I guess some of us want a soundtrack album to have every cue of music from the film because we want an assurance that we get the music that we liked from the music, even if this album had a bunch of cues that we didn’t like.

SyncMan got a reaction from bruce marshall in Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story (2021)
The New York Philharmonic just announced an LTP concert for this specific version:
September 12, 13, 14, and 17, 2023
https://nyphil.org/concerts-tickets/2324/west-side-story
This one is created by Disney Concerts, but the LTP's image/logo/banner is not displayed in Disney Concerts' website. So, heck knows what other LTP concerts may have been created--SW-ROTS, Indiana Jones, etc.

SyncMan reacted to crocodile in THE BATMAN (2022) - Live-to-Picture Concert
OK so a few thoughts.
There were no vocalists or choir so all of that came from the film stem. All of which was bit disappointing, given how prominent they feature in the film.
They performed score only, as expected, with one exception - the opening with Ave Maria. I suppose it makes sense.
The interval happens right after the Batmobile chase, as expected. The second part opens with brief entr'acte comprising of material from Escaped Crusader.
They didn't perform the end credits at all. The performance ends on the grand swell accompanying the final shot. Then there's the applause and as everyone leaves they just play the end credits from the film stem.
Sadly, it wasn't my favourite experience. The sound effects often drowned the music and I often struggled to hear much of the detail. There's a lot of dialogue, rain and other sounds that overwhelm Giacchino's sparse music. I imagine it must be a bit of a nightmare to balance. The score itself sounded bit different from the album recording, suppose it is hard to recreate exactly. The string section was really small and I think it would have benefitted from some extra players.
There were four percussion players and their presence was definitely felt in many places, creating even more of an urban noir vibe. I liked that.
Overall, a mixed bag. But I'm glad I went.

SyncMan reacted to crumbs in STAR WARS - Live To Projection Concerts
@PoggoAOTS would the MSO consider booking concerts for TROS (and TLJ) in the future?
I saw TFA performed at the Palais and it was sensational, and clearly the OT concerts are always popular. But you could probably have the world premiere of TROS in concert at this rate!
