  1. I love those kind of threads!!!!

I am just trying to analyze The Rise of Skywalker and am having a hard time with this section (2:26-2:41):

This insert is mainly based around a Bsus4 chord, quite simple:

But then, the high woodwinds and later trumpets come in with a little phrase:

Aside from heavy errors in the sheet music for this section, I found it very difficult to transcribe this section and find an explanation for the harmonic processes, including the chord symbols.

As has been said, adding chord symbols to Williams' music is often very difficult, so does it make sense here, and are the chords I have labeled reasonably correct?

The places I also have problems with:

    - bar 66 (now with D as tonic): Does it make sense to label this as Em11 over D or just keep it as D5(add69) but now with an added sus4?

    - last quarter note of m.66: Dmaj7? I mean, we have the F# in three places there, so technically it's not D5 anymore, but they are all on weak beats only for a short time. For the overall context of the whole phrase would this count as Dmajor or D5?

  2. Over at VI-Control this kind of thread was closed a long time ago, some people spent all day posting personal attacks against Zimmer, and it was just disgusting (who by the way is active on this forum, which makes it even more sickening).

Maybe this thread should be closed too, it's not productive at all.

The CD liner notes lists the players and they are the usual suspects of LA contract players that Sandy DeCrescent brings in.

I've been working on a project to catalogue all of the players and map out who has played on each score and this has led me to digitize all of my copies of the my JW liner notes so here's the list from the Dial of Destiny notes

    What does "booth" mean here?

    Wow, good work!!!

    Just a few things I noticed;

maybe take the percussion close mics a bit up and increase the overall loudness of the section by 2 or 3 db.

the horns at 00:16 could sound a bit harsher/tighter.

the trumpets at 00:30 could hold the note a bit longer.

a little intonation mistake at 00:26?

overall the strings and woodwinds could be a bit louder in comparison to the brass.

there is some unnatural loudness misbalance around the instrumentation change at 00:37.

And, this is just my taste, I would turn the Piccolo up (especially at 00:21)!

Overall, it sounds great! Is this Aaron Venture Brass? Do you plan on doing the whole thing?

Seeing as Spitfire just released their Originals orchestra, I thought I'd sit down and play with the patches that I'd already purchased (the Epic Strings, Brass and Woods) and do a short little ditty. I surprised myself--this library says epic but (IMO) it pulled off this more whimiscal sound with gusto. It's a great option for beginner composers to pick up.

I did cheat a little and I used a glockenspiel from Nucleus and a timpani from Abbey Road One Foundations, because I tried to use the free BBCSO Discover glock and timpani but for some reason the samples wont sound no matter what I do.

Nice little demo! Indeed, the short patches of these Originals are even in my template, they are really easy to work with, especially sketching, but I often also let them in for layering.

Maybe you can put the Glockenspiel  a bit more in the room (within Nucleus's mic capabilities?), it sounds a bit to present.
