ciarlese got a reaction from The Lost Folio in The John Williams Piano Collection
I have been waiting for over three thirty years for a Last Crusade folio. Having finally an official release nearly makes me cry, even if I already have the scherzo on a different collection.
Still it's a missed opportunity given the huge amount of themes that could have been included from the other movie as well, but I will be happy about the keeper of the grail and the pieces of the last movie (I have everything else on the original folios).

Following up on the Star Wars Piano Anthology (Hal Leonard) and the Harry Potter Piano Anthology (Faber), Hal Leonard is publishing an Indiana Jones Piano Solo Collection: https://www.halleonard.com/product/1243151/indiana-jones-piano-solo-collection

Included are two excerpts from each of the five films. Entirely new are "The Keeper of the Grail" from Last Crusade (finally!) and "Helena's Theme" and "Archimedes' Tomb" from Dial of Destiny! It also looks like "Parade of the Slave Children" is a new arrangement. Samples at the link above.

I am glad we finally get an arrangement of "Helena's Theme", and an additionnal excerpt from Last Crusade. But I also feel that compared to the Star Wars and Harry Potter anthologies, this one is lackluster. Why not, at least, also include the other 4 pieces that had previously been published but not reprinted since their original folios ("The Basket Game", "Love Theme" from Temple of Doom, "The Crystal Spell", and "The Journey to Akator")?

I was thinking of placing a meaty order on SAE as I have a few titles to catch up, but this has disappeared from their website. I checked on LLL and it's showing as out of stock: any idea when this could be back?

Just realized that Amazon UK has this on pre-order for £109.99, release date 16th of February: not a great price, but a sign of a wider distribution maybe

Amazing how every Lucasfilm movie JW has scored since the Disney acquisition has received an Oscar nomination. They're getting a solid return on investment.

Would be nice if someone at Disney Records had the bright idea of monetizing all that free publicity with score expansions...

Well, that will depend. How old is he? Is he willing to wait for at least 40 years?

Either way, since these "proper releases" aren't happening anytime soon, he should be free to get anything that will keep him satisfied until the box set finally comes (which may not happen until the next century if mankind hasn't been extincted, but anyway).

ciarlese got a reaction from Badzeee in Disney Emporium releases Indiana Jones: The Complete CD Collection (Expected ship date is March 27, 2024.) No new expansions - Includes the previous Concord Records programmes plus KotCS and DoD OSTs
This is not just an item we don't like.
This is a sign of how Disney deals with soundtracks and their release, and shows lacks of respect for customers, and also proves how incapable they are in taking the right decisions in this market. We have been waiting for proper IJ releases for many years, and the best Disney can do is to add a cardboard box and price the set at $30 per disk, while you can comfortably buy the very same content for much less. They even managed to keep some previously available music out of this box. All of this right after the disastrous release of the DoD CD.
These release goes in the wrong direction of what should be made, frustrates the hopes of the fans, and this is why it's getting such a reaction, especially when the market is now full of great releases and it's so clear how to proceed and who to get involved.

ciarlese reacted to enderdrag64 in Why does the "Re-Use" fee excuse for not releasing expanded scores only apply to Williams ?
What I meant is that I have no idea where that number came from in terms of being the amount labels would have to pay.

    Why don't sections 8C-8G apply?

I cant understand why a person would have to be paid again the same ammount for a work… without working twice. A reuse fee I understand, but not the full price

And how is this "protection" actually working? What are the tangible benefits the American musicians are actually enjoying since this rule has been put in place?

These idiots are not benefitting anyone with their outdated rule, not the labels and certainly not the musicians. Sure, it's fair for them to demand better deals, but instead of negotiating with the labels and industry, they're sticking to something signed in 2005 like a religious text. It would be much more beneficial to all if they were willing to negotiate.

So no, I have no respect for the AFM, and by that I mean the idiots in charge of it. But since Hollywood is run by absolute jackasses, I don't see that changing soon. Fuck them.

If I understand correctly, that makes the Blu-ray 0.1% slower than the actual projected movie in theatre, hence the isolated score is slightly slower. Am I wrong?
