It's ok. A bit of Pink Floyd, a bit of Gladiatorian wailing, a good chunk of Angels & Demons repurposed. I had hoped - on this occasion - for more of his Ofra Haza-tinged Prince of Egypt stuff (a desert is desert, after all), but this remains rather vague during the course of 70 minutes.

Only two types of creature get fun in the desert: Bedouins and gods. Dune has both.

I don't think @Chen G. loves the desert and desolate places the way us Englishmen do.

That is very incomplete, it's just 1 hour of highlights.

The LLL main program is 85 minutes, and after that there's a wealth of alternates that are actually interesting to listen to, which is not always the case with expansions.

The movies would kill him at the beginning of the story. The books would kill him at the end. Most permanently at the end of From Russia With Love.

Going from memory: Left Universal Exports at the end of Casino Royale, comes back when Vesper kills herself. Killed at the end of From Russia With Love. Dr. No: Only mostly dead but gets his Walther. Leaves at the end of On Her Majesty's Secret Service, comes back... Well, you know. Leaves the 00 division at the beginning of You Only Live Twice (becomes 777?), presumed killed at the end but actually has amnesia and heads to the Soviet Union. Man with the Golden Gun: comes back brainwashed and tries to kill M, sent on a suicide mission. At this point Fleming doesn't survive.

True, although it us funny when he talks about the necessity of creating something brand new with each score and being uncomfortable about copying concert music. 😂

Never have these words been written before in the annals of history, and never will they be written again, but let it be known on this day, on this matter, Sir David Lean, Knight of the British Empire is wrong and "Naïve Old Fart" is right. Lean was out of his mind when he said that about adaptations.

You all may discuss how she may or may feel about JW's music but leave politics out of it.

    Thank you.

Not sure whether Rowling said it or not (somehow I doubt it), but that's definitely true.

Tchaikovsky was a major influence on Williams. That's common knowledge.

It's an absolute travesty that this guy wasn't brought back. What a superb action score. He has excellent command of an orchestra.

Michael Giacchino - Spider-Man: Far From Home

I loved the first film and score. I was a little underwhelmed with the second film. Good, solid film. Just not the home-run that Homecoming was. I guess that opinion wound up unfairly taking the score along with it. This is freaking great!

The first Craig movie (and by extension the second) lean on him being green and untested. Then the subsequent three move back into "You're and old man, Bond. It's time to move out of the way!"

The interesting thing about the Craig era is that it has lasted so LONG. He hasn't made nearly as many movies but he's been the longest serving Bond ever.

Does Bond end with the Broccoli's? I mean I guess Barbara is only 61. I just wonder what the direction will be once Craig shuffles off. People wondered if Bond was out of step when BROSNAN picked up the PPK.

The original astroid field with the awesome frenetic string intro is the best!

The playing may not be perfect, but the spirit is there!

All four of those disks were full. Empire and the Bonus Disk were at 1 hour and 15 minutes each. I was annoyed about the omission as well, but what would you have left off?

Yes, Throne Room is the concert arrangement of Ben's Theme. Unless you want to say that there was never a concert arrangement of Luke's theme. I mean the main titles has the Rebel Fanfare in it, it has ANOTHER variation of Leia's theme (sheesh!) and it even has snatches of The Throne Room! Clearly not a concert arrangement in any reasonable sense of the term.

I'm not sure why I've run very hot and very cold on Gerhardt's Empire. I should revisit.

BTW I've always hated the concert arrangement of The Asteroid Field as played by anybody. Just sayin'.

For all his Sturm und Drang acting (APOCALYPSE NOW; WATERWORLD; SPEED; BLUE VELVET), his role in HOOSIERS might just be his most affecting performance.
He was much better than people think.

Fred Steiner. His first two scores, “Charlie X” and “Mudd’s Women,” define the Star Trek sound.
