Those duel scenes with tracked williams music feel almost cinematic unlike the show.

I wonder… after seeing Ross work on Obiwan as the official adapter of Williams' theme….and his involvement in Rogue One as orchestrator when he is not in Giacchino's team,  could that mean that the infamous treatments of Williams' themes could be Ross' work? 🙃

The usage of the classic characters does not seem forced, they have a plot on their own, and their are not just glorified cameos. It think they are treated and handled better and more respectfully than in the star wars sequel trilogy

Which sadly it was the main point of rebooting the EU... that the new movies wouldnt need to rely on decades of written material and alienate audiences who had not read them.
 
So in the end the old EU should have been adapted or trimmed for the Disney era, because in the end they made the very thing they wanted to evade. (worse because aside of alienaing general audiences they also screwed the fans who had been EU followers for a lifetime...)

Damn, what did Michael Giacchino do to people? I know he has way more fans than detractors. But I never knew his critics were "proud haters" so to speak. 

I may not hold every Giacchino score to the same high standard (I couldn't hum a single note from Zootopia with a gun to my head). But I'm honestly kinda shocked that so many people flat out hate his scores for Jurassic World, Spider-Man, The Batman, even his recent Pixar stuff. Maybe it's a generational thing as the music of Michael Giacchino and Randy Newman were what granted me my appreciation for film scores as I grew up. Lots of Williams and Elfman too of course.

But I gotta be real. I don't know who can listen to the scores for Doctor Strange, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Coco, and The Batman and not be swept away by them. And judging by the previews for the score, Lightyear seems to be another winner for him.

Aside from the orchestration and feeling, i think some resembled a cue in talenof desperaux score by ross, a score which i dont think holt would quote….
