Laserschwert 475
Ah well, "Speed 2" is a must buy for me since I'm too much of a Mancina fan to pass on it. BTW, is the old "Twister" album missing a lot?
MattyO 62
Apparently it is. I have to admit I'm not at all familiar with the score, but after hearing the main theme on youtube, Twister is definitely an expansion I'll be looking out for.
Koray Savas 2,251
La-La Land is cleaning up the 90s. I wouldn't be surprised if Twister and several other key action scores, or just key scores in general, get released/expanded in the near future. So far they're easily label of the year for me. Nice to see them becoming very formidable in the film score world.
Trent B 337
The full score for Twister should run close to 60 minutes, if not a bit longer. It could easily fit onto one CD. There are definitely still some bits missing, most notably the opening notes of "Wheat Field".
Richard Penna 3,696
The OST for Twister is 50 mins, if you include the credits, so I can't see there being much unreleased. In fact it seems a little disappointing that Mancina didn't put the full score on to begin with. The only two bits I'm aware of from the last time I looked at the movie are when they leave Meg's house in a rush and you get some great guitar/rock work during the amazing panoramas, and the final sequence with the F5 which I think is missing some lower key action material when they're running along the fence.Plus there are some other sequencs (trapped under the bridge?) that I don't remember off hand whether they were scored, or may have unused music.I do own the original CD (found it surprisingly cheap on ebay years ago), but I'd buy a new set for the extra music, and no doubt boosted sound quality. So far they're easily label of the year for me. Nice to see them becoming very formidable in the film score world.Absolutely. And their releases accelerating to every 2 weeks (alternate weeks to Intrada I think) in a few months really makes them a label to watch. Unlike Intrada, I can get genuinely excited about LLL's announcements.I do wonder if they are trying to license some of Varese's 30 minute atrocities from this period. Varese does too few club releases for these to be attacked in any number. There are a fair number of superb action scores on their pallet.
Wojo 2,453
The 13th Warrior could be a good comparison, and the film is set in similarly remote/mountainous surroundings.A lot of the underscore to The Edge reminded me of writing from Insurrection and Nemesis. I listened to it last night and there was no hardcore Viking chants to be heard in The Edge, but the main theme is gorgeous. It made me feel like I was outside gazing at mountains.I think that after not buying any scores this week (with three orders still out there), next week's going to be expensive again. Richard Penna 3,696
I was thinking more the approach taken with the orchestra - the action technique and the use of woodwinds and low brass. The main theme is a bit overused I think, but I've noticed that with Goldsmith - he seems to rely on thematic quotations rather a lot, instead of writing generic underscore. This month's already expensive - Trek, The Edge and Mr Atlas, and yet another Intrada batch in 11 days. Wojo 2,453
I really need to make an umpteen hour long Goldsmith playlist so I can listen to all of these albums in chronological order.A fun experiment would be to take all of the non-thematic tracks and see how many of them I can identify. Richard Penna 3,696
Quite amusing looking on Ebay for The Edge OST. There are 10 on ebay.com, and 3 on ebay.co.uk, one of which is going for £50!I would feel bad at accepting that sort of money for my copy though

Just wow.I find it laughable and pitiful that some people think they're going to get that much for an obsolete copy. I bet someone like that probably thought they'd get $300 for a copy of the Two Towers and Return Of The King complete recordings when they temporarily went out of stock. Koray Savas 2,251
That's not that laughable and pitiful to me. It's laughable and pitiful that people actually pay for it, I mean, that IS the only reason people are selling that high. Avatar promo anyone? I think that might just be the worst purchase of the decade made by any man or woman.

Unlucky Bastard 7,782
Since LLL have a deal with Sony, I'd like to see them release the music from Seinfeld. There are all those funny variations of the Seinfeld theme and segues, plus all that faux action and ominous music, plus the short-lived music from the pilot episode "The Seinfeld Chronicles". I'd buy it!

Richard Penna 3,696
Speed 2 is really tearing at me, because out of the 40 min promo, I like maybe 25 mins. That's really borderline on whether I choose to support LLL here, given this has already been a pricey month.
Jay 37,379
Its highly likely the 71 minute LLL release will contain interesting score that wasn't on the promo. They'll put samples up on Tuesday.

Laserschwert 475
Although "Seinfeld" would contain like 50 2-second tracks with different slap bass jingles. BTW, I've always wanted a score release for "Scrubs" as well...
Koray Savas 2,251
We got the end credits cue on the first album release. There really isn't anything worthy score-wise, I think. It's mostly just transition music, the songs score most of the emotional stuff.
MattyO 62
Yeah, that's right for Scrubs - there really isn't all that much score used in both Scrubs and Seinfeld. 30 Rock, however gets a score for each episode - season 1 did at any rate.

Ollie 1,059
I suppose the old cover is appealing if you like Anthony Hopkins and Alec Balwin grimacing as if they were having a massive bowel movement.I think the new cover reflects the human drama of the film much better. Wojo 2,453
I don't like either cover, but will probably use the original one. To me, the movie is about a giant bear. I know there is a human drama and the plot about the other guy's wife, but I don't watch the movie for the human drama. I watch it to see a giant bear.If anything, The Edge deserves a custom cover using Bart:But both covers are better than this video cover. It implies a "buddy/put your head on my shoulder" relationship not present in the film.
