The Illustrious Jerry 3,356
Out of Africa by John Barry (OST) Dances With Wolves by John Barry (OST) Played three times each this week, as I became a complete sucker for Barry again. This time around I noticed a lot of repetition- he'll make a statement, then double up on it. Some may dislike this, but I'm completely tolerable, especially when I love the music I'm hearing. Out of Africa is always gorgeous, and very much in the same vein as Dances With Wolves. Both are fairly reasonable album lengths and are well presented. Always nice to hear Barry nail Karen's Theme, throw in some Mozart, amp up percussion on a cue or two, and utilize the African traditional Siyawe. With Wolves, the John Dunbar Theme is best presented in the magnificent album version of The Buffalo Hunt. Other awesome highlights include Journey to Fort Sedgwick and The Wolf Theme, encapsulating such innocence in Barry's staple solo flute.
