Jay 43,961 Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 Congrats to Joe for winning the Discovery Of The Year Award at the World Soundtrack Awards!
Thor 9,323 Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 Wrong guy won! Nothing against Kraemer, but I didn't care for his M:I score. The prize should have gone to Margeson instead, for his EDDIE THE EAGLE. But at least Bear McCreary didn't win, which is a comfort -- it would have been bizarre to give a 'discovery' award to what is basically a veteran composer by now.
Jay 43,961 Posted October 19, 2016 Author Posted October 19, 2016 Thanks for your valuable contribution to this thread
Koray Savas 2,255 Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 Love Kraemer's sound. Hope he continues to get high profile projects. The Illustrious Jerry 1
Jay 43,961 Posted October 20, 2016 Author Posted October 20, 2016 He recently wrote a new score to the 1927 silent film Sunrise, and it premiered live yesterday in Dallas https://www.dcsymphony.org/concert-tickets/2016-17-season-schedule/sunrise/ https://www.dcsymphony.org/news/sunrise-song-two-humans-new-score-joe-kraemer-premieres-oct-18th/ Would like to hear that one
Disco Stu 15,514 Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 Ooooh me too. A Kraemer score to an F.W. Murnau film? Yes please.

I thought we could also discuss the award/WSA itself. I actually think the WSA had some good nominations this year (unusual for them); in most categories, anyway, and except for some odd choices (like McCreary for 'discovery'). Thankfully no Desplat; it had become somewhat of a parody of him being nominated and winning every year -- regardless of what one thinks of him. Alas, I couldn't come myself this year.
Jay 43,961 Posted November 22, 2016 Author Posted November 22, 2016 Wow! There's some new Kraemer music on this website here: http://coolmusicltd.com/composers/joe-kraemer/ The "Villain Theme" track is outstanding!! Hey, the end of Pervenire reminds me of Princess Leia's Theme concert arrangement...
Crimson Nagus 49 Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 I enjoyed those tracks. I honestly don't understand why he doesn't get more scoring gigs. I've really enjoyed his sound in Way of the Gun, Reacher and Rouge Nation. I hope he continues to get more exposure, I want to own more soundtracks with his credit on the artwork.
Jay 43,961 Posted November 22, 2016 Author Posted November 22, 2016 Joe posted on Facebook what the tracks are: I have an album coming out in January with Audio Network that contains 10 tracks I've written for symphony orchestra. I'll be buying that! And yes, I hope he gets more gigs. A James Bond film and a Star Wars spinoff, please! The Illustrious Jerry 1
Jay 43,961 Posted January 27, 2017 Author Posted January 27, 2017 The Audio Network album is out! https://www.audionetwork.com/browse/m/album/expressions-of-cinema_2707 Hopefully there's some way to get a physical CD somewhere...
Richard P 4,966 Posted February 6, 2017 Posted February 6, 2017 Yeah, the only way to legally get those tracks (or at all in HQ) is to licence them at £7/track. Ouch. I'd be somewhat surprised if Audio Network even issues CDs to clients. Or... DownloadHelper.
Jay 43,961 Posted August 15, 2017 Author Posted August 15, 2017 Joe has scored a new Amazon original TV series called Comrad Detective:
Disco Stu 15,514 Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 Has he been confirmed for M:I6? I'm assuming, but don't want to take it for granted.
Jay 43,961 Posted August 15, 2017 Author Posted August 15, 2017 Not that I've seen, but I don't think there's a reason to think he won't score it
thestat 496 Posted August 27, 2017 Posted August 27, 2017 Kramer is a seriously talented composer with proper orchestrational flare. Don't take him down, he is a fan and a seriously good guy. Support all he does - Comdrad Detektiv is great but it means that Joe is working Channing Tatum and Joe Gordon Levitt. He is a good guy and he needs a break outside of Christopher McQuarrie and Mad Tom. And he is a motherfucker of a composer. Just listen to Solomon Lane.
Jay 43,961 Posted August 27, 2017 Author Posted August 27, 2017 Yup, he's extremely talented! And a super nice guy, too.
Dr. Know 434 Posted September 15, 2017 Posted September 15, 2017 Audio Network currently has a special trial offer allowing you to download any ten tracks for free (in WAV format, no less). All you have to do is provide an email address.
Dr. Know 434 Posted September 15, 2017 Posted September 15, 2017 Ugh, my mistake. The "free trial" tracks are not in WAV format, but low-quality mp3s, basically what you can get from the site already. Sorry for the false alarm.
Richard P 4,966 Posted September 15, 2017 Posted September 15, 2017 There are a few library music labels that put all their stuff up for regular sale to the public, but they're a rarity. And because Audio Network is independent, you can't just make an account and download anything you want. The labels covered by PRS (or similar) let you download wavs to your heart's content - you only pay when you use something.

I'd forgotten Kraemer had scored it so that was an awesome surprise! It's great stuff. Very similar to his Rogue Nation score. All orchestral with groovy action writing and classic suspense stings. It's mixed very well in the show. Too bad it hasn't been released on CD or digital. The show itself (Cold War-era satire) is mildly humorous, although it's not something I'm dying to watch again.
Jay 43,961 Posted July 19, 2018 Author Posted July 19, 2018 First poster for Kraemer's next theatrical film score Yavar Moradi and mstrox 2
Disco Stu 15,514 Posted July 19, 2018 Posted July 19, 2018 I saw the top of the poster first, and thought to myself, "Huh, I've never seen Larry Miller in a drama before." Then I scrolled down and saw the title, haha.
Disco Stu 15,514 Posted July 19, 2018 Posted July 19, 2018 Agreed! Kraemer sure loves working with first-time directors. This at least looks like it's the highest profile indie he's scored in a while.
Jay 43,961 Posted July 19, 2018 Author Posted July 19, 2018 Yea, hopefully he'll get another big Hollywood score soon, too

Kasey Kockroach 2,598 Posted July 19, 2018 Posted July 19, 2018 It needed less of that darn melodic writing!
deleted account 110 Posted July 22, 2018 Posted July 22, 2018 It’s getting some nice reviews, according to his twitter page, but I also saw one that called it “loud” and “intrusive”...hmmmm....

Popular Post Jay 43,961 Posted September 11, 2018 Author Popular Post Posted September 11, 2018 Quote THE FIRST 100 COPIES ARE SIGNED BY JOE KRAEMER! (Check your retailer!) Caldera Records is proud to present the new score for the motion picture “Sunrise” from 1927, directed by F.W. Murnau, featuring music by Joe Kraemer, commissioned by the Dallas Chamber Symphony. Featuring enormous stylized sets in order to create an idealized view of the world, “Sunrise” tells the story of three characters with no real names given. The Man and The Wife had been living happily on their farm until the appearance of The Woman From The City, who seduced the husband prior to the beginning of the story. In order to get rid of the farm that is tying The Man to country life, The Woman From The City convinces him to get rid of The Wife by staging a boating accident. When The Man realizes he is unable to commit the deed, The Wife flees to the City. He follows her and they rediscover their love for each other in the exotic world of the City. In 2016, Joe Kraemer got the chance to prove himself as a masterful composer for silent film when he was commissioned by the Dallas Chamber Orchestra to write an original score for Murnau’s masterpiece. In terms of the overall picture, Kraemer shares his inspirations: “I created themes for each of the major characters and concepts in the film, and then used those themes to carry out the plot of the film. It is a highly programmatic composition. I was influenced by composers like Copland, Gershwin, and Strauss. Additionally, I had just finished a three-week stay in Austria when I began writing the score, and I was very influenced by the culture I experienced in the wonderful town of Baden.” The score had its world premiere, live-to-picture, in Dallas in October 2016, where it was conducted by Richard McKay. It had a second performance in August 2017 in Baden, Austria, where Kraemer himself conducted it live-to-picture with members of the Synchron Symphony Orchestra. A few weeks after the live performance, the orchestra reconvened at the Synchron Stage in Vienna to record selections from the score for this CD release. The 26th CD-release of Caldera Records features a detailed booklet-text by Gergely Hubai, an exclusive audio commentary by the composer, and elegant artwork by Luis Miguel Rojas. Thor 9,323 Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 The SoundCloud clip sounds great (even if the volume is too low). I'm very intrigued by this project, as a longtime fan of the silent film (and also bits and pieces of Kraemer's work).
Marian Schedenig 10,855 Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 I've been waiting for this. Joe Kraemer conducted a suite in Baden a few weeks ago, and during the intermission he mentioned that a CD recording was coming out soon. It's lovely music - he called it his favourite of his own works. If everything goes well, there should be more LTP performances ahead.
Lockdown 240 Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 How exactly do you order Sunrise? Or is it not available yet? Never mind lol.

Lockdown 240 Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 I ordered from Screen Archives. Hopefully I get a signed copy! I'd be very interested to see how the music would work in the film. Would be a cool project to edit the music in to the film.
