This sounds awesome! Great to see EON (and Apple) supporting a feature-length music documentary for the Bond series:

Wouldn't it be fantastic if LLL could resume work on their 3 planned Bond releases (Moonraker, Tomorrow Never Dies and Licence to Kill) to coincide with this documentary next October?

No!

Can't wait another ten months.

"Release the BONDS, now!"

Rumour is Peter Jackson is directing it.

He plans a.six part mini- series.

You might want to watch what you say.

Monty has sued people who claim he didn't write it.

And, you both live in England!😗

This is great news. Maybe they'll finally admit the truth about who composed the James Bond theme?

Hans Zimmer?

It'll be interesting to see how this documentary covers that subject.

IMO, Norman deserves credit for the outline of the melody, but Barry deserves credit for re-arranging it with the iconic orchestration that became synonymous with the character.

I thought I posted this yesterday...

There was a great Bond music documentary on one of the DVDs from the early 2000s. IIRC it had every Bond composer. Wait. I don't know if it had Sera. I also don't remember if it went into the songs at all or if that was on a separate feature. I do know that it was mostly about the scores.

This?

It came with the " Best of..."

It's mostly music vids and a short doc.

No. The DVD set of Bond that was released in... Early 2000? Dr. No through The World is Not Enough. They were in that wonderful twilight of when companies were transitioning from laserdisc to DVD and so the extras were aimed at the knowledgeable connoisseur rather than being press release puff pieces. I never got the Bonds on blu ray so I can't compare the content but this was some hard core nerdery here. The Brosnan's weren't as good because they were "of the moment" rather than the retrospectives that the other films were.

Wondering if there's any chance that this might air on Sky Arts or Sky Documentaries at some point in the future ... y' know, channels that I already have without having to subscribe to a bloody 'streaming platform'.

So much for my memory.

And yes, it has a lot of the composers but it's mostly about the songs.

These DVDs were a huge part of my early teen years getting really into all the Bond movies.  I got them for Christmas 2001 or so.  I later got the blu ray box that came out between Skyfall and Spectre and was very pleased to see that they included all the great documentaries from those DVDs for the older movies.

They were really the kind of special features that you don't much see anymore.

I just watched this.

I enjoyed it very much.

The Bond films have some of my favorite music ever in them. So I'm happy with this documentary.

Some great interviews and inside info about the songs etc.

My favorote parts were:

- Barry really gets the spotlight. Fantastic. - - It's a tribute to him in parts, which I felt was great.

- Michael Caine & Goldfinger

- Shirley Bassey throughout

- No Time To Die segments (some wonderful behind the scenes)

- Arnold about Casino Royale (his recording is the best of the theme. Ever)

- The part of unused songs. Radiohead & Amy Whinehouse (especially heartbreaking)

- We Have All The Time In The World segment

- The "Final Ascent" segment.

Great to see all the interviews with actors, singers and composers

Celeste had a few small interviews. And I immediatly thought of how great it would be for her to do a Bond song. She's such a remarkable talent.

Also said Barry never received an Oscar nomination for any of his Bond music, including theme songs like "Goldfinger."

Barry got enough Oscars, but yes, it's a curious thing.

Very nice that all the Bonds are finally back on Prime Video.  I'll watch this documentary tonight!

Looks like they're 4K versions as well.
