Popular Post karelm 2,914
Do we have a list of all Johnny's source music? It's not easy to track down exactly what he composed versus someone else like Joseph Williams for example. And I think in some cases the source music was adapted by JW but composed by someone else like "Anything Goes" from Temple of Doom, "I Only Have Eyes for You" played on Gigolo Joe in A.I. and "When you wish upon a star" from CEOTK. Remember, source music is music composed for the film that is heard in scene by the characters such as Jabba palace, Cantina Band or music on tv, radio, or background performers. The characters "hear" the source music. Some of mine include: * 10 Commandments from Close Encounters * Cartoon from Jurassic Park * Salsa music from India Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull What are some of your favorites? By the way, I'm really loving Crystal Skull OST which I haven't heard in years. Check out this gem, did our Johnny really write this (@1:12) ??? Yeah, as far as we know he wrote it as a homage to a similar piece from Steiner's Treasure of Sierra Madre. karelm
Popular Post MikeH 768
The first half of this is an arrangement and second half is his theme. I always liked his arrangement of “Teach Me Tonight” from Jaws 2, sadly not on the expansion. Andy, Raiders of the SoundtrArk and karelm
Popular Post Andy 4,138
Besides the obvious Cantina Band The Ewok village stuff is pretty inspired. Luther’s Luau is tons of fun. I just LOVE all of the Indian themed Pankot music for the banquet in Temple of Doom. 15 minutes ago, MikeH said: I always liked his arrangement of “Teach Me Tonight” from Jaws 2, sadly not on the expansion. Popular Post artguy360 1,843
I enjoy the source music he composed for the Harry Potter films. The pieces for HP3 are particularly nice, with a greater sense of Englishness to them. Holko, Muad'Dib, Once and 1 other
Datameister 2,044
Soooooo much good stuff. But yeah, Cantina Band gets the top spot for me, based partly on actual quality and partly on nostalgia.
Raiders of the SoundtrArk 2,433
Obviously Cantina Band are the best source cues he composed, closely followed by Double Trouble, Mr. DNA, the Pankot Palace and Fluffy's Harp theme. He did so many great source music in those too: Superman with Luthor's Luau Hook with When You Are Alone Home Alone with Star of Bethlehem Jaws with his Marching Band The Fury with More Bubble Gum Tintin with Presenting Bianca Castafiore The Post with The Oak Room, 1971 The Terminal with The Krakoziah Anthem Memoirs of a Geisha with the Dance scene (don't recall the name of the cue though) karelm

Although there's no evidence of them being source music, I think it's one of those instances where the tracks are so different from the rest of the score, and the narrative setting is slightly different, that we have to assume they're taking place in the filmic world. Omen II 1,235
I have always been rather partial to the (still unreleased ) source cue which plays in the pool hall in Earthquake, heard from about 1:50 in this clip. Check out that Hammond organ. I think it's beautiful! I've said it before and I'll say it again. John Williams must be forced - at the point of a pool cue, if necessary - to compile his 1970s source music cues from the likes of The Eiger Sanction, Earthquake, Cinderella Liberty, The Fury, Superman and others into a lavish double CD groove fest. One of those cues don't play in the background of the scene at a restaurant where Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks meet to talk about the paper?
