Temple of Doom is celebrating 40 years in 2024

Saw this opening weekend in 1984 and was hands down one of the best movie going experiences I've had. The audience was into it the entire time. Yeah it's brutal at time and a bit sloppy SFX / continuity wise,( the dummies in the raft and the the bridge sequence come to mind, bridge is not above a deep chasm as the above shots make it seem.) but the film doesn't drag and is a solid sequel (prequel if we're being precise) to Raiders. -

Batman LC is very good but Elfman's score was something new and not a sequel. -

I hope so. This is an important score in Williams career as it marks the beginning of his relationship with Spielberg. -
Schindler's List may have been one.

Too many to make a definitive top 10.

Much warmer climate

His score to Phrophecy is one of my favorites and The Car is a solid effort as well, love the use of Dies Irae through it.

Saw the film today, basically it’s Kong’s Story but it was mindless Showa Style fun. The pace was good, just enough human interaction to catch your breath between the monster mayhem. The music was a slight improvement, they used an orchestra as well this time. But there moments where it sounded like cheesy 80’s synth. I don’t understand how they claim Godzilla’s original music wouldn’t work but then allow a lousy pastiche version to represent Godzilla and someone else. I'm disappointed that as the films progressed they moved away from the tone of the 2014 film and Skull Island too. I’d give this one 3 out of 5 stars.

I went ahead and snuck mine in right before it expired. -
We’re going this weekend, Easter and the NCAA tourney took up my time this past weekend. I try too see all the Godzilla films on the big screen when possible.

I wonder how much of this was a boost from Minus One, plus we never got a true sense of how much box office GvsK could have done because it was released during the Covid period.
-
Well at least the first two Godzilla monsterverse films had good scores. Can’t win em all.
