Man, what a score.  It's a score where I just love every single note of every single track so much.  Not a moment of fluff anywhere, just incredible from top to bottom.  They don't make em like that any more

I found this kinda neat. During the second half of the chase when the Tuk Tuk gets sandwiched between the two cars, the percussion (bongos?) from earlier picks up again, but you can't hear it in the film at all. In fact as far as I can tell they appear to be completely muted in the front and center channels.

I was kinda hoping 'Oma Tres' would make a cameo appearance somewhere in the film.

Bergersen continues to be, in my eyes, one of the most underrated composers working today, having consistently showcased an innate ability to channel different musical genres and styles while making them his own. He only seems to be getting better, with this most recent work being a real testament to the guy's talent and ability. It hurts to see far inferior composers garnering attention on meager outputs while his efforts go largely unrecognized. But perhaps that's how he likes it. Regardless, I hope he sees some more attention coming his way in the years to come.

I feel like DOD's original material at least feels more distinct and separate than TLJ (where the reused material formed the foundation of the score).

If anything the DOD OST doesn't have enough Indy's theme, focusing largely on Helena's theme

More generally, particularly as to the second half of the album track (which I think is a separate cue), it's wonderful how daring JW is in his musical choices. How many other action movies are there today where a composer would write something that sounds like Sabrina? But JW does it, and makes it sound perfectly natural and not at all dated. Unfortunately, in the film itself, it seems that the cue is considerably shortened, with what sounds like an insert that replaces the most sweepingly romantic portion (no doubt, others have remarked on this in other threads -- it's been hard for me to keep up!). But I'm glad we get to hear it in its full glory on album.

Agree 100% with much of what has been said above. I'll add that my personal favorite bit is this hopeful, slightly adventurous section:

I don't know what the technical musical terms are for this, but it sounds like pure classic JW. A short moment but so distinctively him. Love how it manages to be both playful and deeply nostalgic. Relatedly, it's also perfect for the moment it underscores on screen.

Some upper level tickets for this are finally available after the page showing no availability for months. Looks like anything closer or lower is reserved for people buying tickets to the pre-concert cocktail party and/or post-concert gala, which range from $1,000 to $2,500.

So all the constant Giacchino hating from here on out will be done here and not in the various Giacchino score threads? Awesome! Great idea.

The end of Empire is so perfect it's beyond describing. It almost can't possibly be that good, but it is. It's hard to appreciate how good an ending that film has. It's both a near total cliff hanger as well as a very satisfying ending. And the music steps up to match it.

So I'm watching that Japan video back when Williams would conduct perfect pieces perfectly. And it occurs to me that as good as Temple of Doom and Last Crusade are the Indy theme kind of becomes just a piece of music that gets played. But in Raiders... Wow, that's something else. It's weird that Indy is both a throwback adventure film while at the same time being like nothing we'd ever seen before. (Especially if you were 11.) And that THEME! While the Nazi music takes his RUMPTY TUM TUM TUMMMMMM! bad guy kind of music from Empire and refines it the main theme isn't nearly the "oh, that's just the kind of music that Williams writes" that say Superman is.

I can't really think of anything he's written quite like it. And it was back when he'd write a main theme and then vary it within an inch of it's life! I mean, Desert Chase!

I've always felt that the opening of "The Rebel Fleet/End Title" from TESB is what a concert version of the Force Theme might sound like since it has a mini B section that leads to a reprise of the theme. And, since the theme is short and almost like a motif as you say, it would make sense to combine it with the Solo and the Princess theme as it is here (another theme from the same film with a very contrasting emotion). So it could be like The Rebellion is Reborn from TLJ, which combines Rose's Theme and the Luke in Exile Theme. You can kind of imagine it if you listen to the first couple of minutes of the cue with that in mind:

It tells you all you need to know about JTW is that he wrote the Raiders March and it is NOT my favorite Williams theme. That would have been any other composer's crowning achievement. Williams says "I have others."

The best emotional use is the celli playing as Indy and Shorty give their hats back to each other.
