Display Name 60
Varese should either release their CD Club titles faster or fully stop and give that responisbility to La-La Land, Intrada, Quartet and Kritzerland. I remember being pleasantly surprised that, for a contemporary OST, it really contained all the highlights I wanted from the film. The Club expansions I really want are RoboCop 2, Demolition Man, and Dead Poets Society, but I would be tempted to buy expansions of Sphere, Witness, Hudson Hawk, Panic Room, and Vibes (I know, I'm the only one)
Richard Penna 3,694
Panic Room? That's not a score I thought I'd hear anyone wanting expanded. Fair enough though. I'd buy Sphere in a heartbeat, probably AF1 too. My personal Varese grail is Dante's Peak.

Jay 37,370
Quote I am finishing up my final batch of Varese CD Club titles. Three titles that will be announced in February. I created this series in 1988 to allow me to present favorite scores by favorite composers, custom produced for the aficionados out there ... the soundtrack collectors who need unreleased film scores like they need air. These are the scores that, for the most part, are hard to believe they exist ... even to this day! These are scores that went decades as titles we only dreamed of and then, one day, all of a sudden, there was The Goonies, or Lonely Are The Brave, or The Alfred Hitchcock Hour, Die Hard, The Karate Kid or Spartacus! Most recently there was Dracula: The Deluxe Edition. What are your favorite titles or favorite CD Club memories? Here's a list of all 219, including Masters Film Music. 1. VCL-8903.1 CHERRY 2000 2. Also, looking at that list reminded me that I was never able to track down Fitzwilly. Bought it on eBay ages ago when I first started getting into Williams and it was a bootleg. Popular Post Jay 37,370
Quote Well, today is the day. After 30 years this will be my last day at Varèse Sarabande. So many memories. SO many friends. This shot shows our ten-years-younger selves from 2008! What a special day this was. We were celebrating 30 years of Varèse Sarabande. The first row is Michael Giacchino, Lalo Schifrin, Marc Shaiman and Richard M. Sherman. 2nd row is Mark Isham, Jan A.P. Kaczmarek, Christopher Young and Ed Shearmur. 3rd row is Christophe Beck, Brian Tyler, Mychael Danna, Charles Bernstein, John Frizzell, Matthew Joseph Peak and Joel McNeely. And the 4th row is Don Davis, Cliff Eidelman, John Ottman, Richard Kraft, Marco Beltrami, John Debney and Trevor Rabin. Though we had sadly lost them all by this point... Jerry Goldsmith, Elmer Bernstein, Georges Delerue, Miklós Rózsa, Henry Mancini, Basil Poledouris, Michael Kamen and Shirley Walker were all there in spirit. Varèse Sarabande has been a very big film music family over these many years. There's a very exciting future to begin embracing tomorrow, but today will be a little wistful. An enormous thank you to all of the composers, musicians, conductors, orchestrators, copyists, engineers, agents, artists, writers, music department heads and teams, lawyers and publishers ... absolutely everyone who contributed in any way to any of these albums. So looking forward to our exciting adventures to come, but for today a look back. ROBERT TOWNSON's VARESE SARABANDE DISCOGRAPHY [snip] https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=2207235796205942&set=a.1383486185247578&type=3 I snipped out his list of 1,426 (!) titles rather than posting it here, but the relevant part for his final batch is he revealed it's two Deluxe Editionss and an Encore thusly: Quote 1360. VCL 0219 1191 : The Deluxe Edition 1361. VCL 0219 1192 : The Deluxe Edition 1362. VCL 0219 1193 (Encore) I really hope one of the Deluxe Editions is Air Force One! Jurassic Shark 12,080
Let it be the remaining Williamses.
Yavar Moradi 2,599
I'm sure it would be only one Williams, tops...and the only one still controlled by Varese at this point is Presumed Innocent. Does anyone know how much missing music there is for that score? On the other hand there are a gazillion "remaining" unexpanded Goldsmith scores they control in perpetuity. So I really really hope one of them is in this batch. Yavar Display Name

There should be five new Planet of the Apes releases before anyone should be allowed to dare thinking of the necessity of a Presumed Innocent expansion. 1977

It's been OOP for many years so it needs a rerelease anyway.

So do I, but has Varese ever released two expansions by the same composer in a single Club batch? Besides, I'll be more than satisfied with a single Goldsmith expansion as long as the other Deluxe Edition is Carlito's Way by Patrick Doyle, The Secret Garden by Zbigniew Preisner, Christopher Columbus: The Discovery by Cliff Eidelman, Sphere by Elliot Goldenthal, Dolores Claiborne by Danny Elfman, Brainstorm by James Horner, Eye of the Needle by Miklos Rozsa, Hot Shots Part Deux by Basil Poledouris, Forever Amber by David Raksin, Terminal Velocity by Joel McNeely, Mouse Hunt by Alan Silvestri, or Memoirs of an Invisible Man by Shirley Walker... 1 hour ago, Display Name said: I watched the movie a few days ago. Yeah but with Saving Private Ryan being expanded by just a minute or two this past year, it's still possible. The impetus could come from Mike Mattesino/Williams and his people as part of preserving his legacy. Yavar
Jay 37,370
I'm certainly hoping for Brainstorm by Horner and Air Force One by Goldsmith. Johnnyecks and Yavar Moradi
mstrox 6,651
Based on this list here, the only perpetuity titles I'm interested in are Presumed Innocent, Pee-wee's Big Adventure, and Dolores Claiborne. https://www.filmscoremonthly.com/board/posts.cfm?forumID=1&pageID=1&threadID=86092&archive=0 Mayyyybe a truly complete Matrix, although I'm not heartbroken if we're left with the previous expansion. Maybe that'll be the last batch!
Ollie 1,059
I figured I roughly bought 130 of the Varèse Cd / Master Film releases. My wishes are Air Force One, Brainstorm and Raggedy Man as the Encore. Amer

King Mark 3,631
Don't care . To me Varese is synonymous with incomplete 30 minutes albums that almost never get expanded, making it worse with their perpetual rights thing. We got a few decently done over the years like Dracula, Stanley and Iris and Cowboys but not that many . Is there any more Williams scores we never got expanded because of them? Probably Earthquake and Eiger Sanction
