Jay 37,364
Plenty of upcoming 2021 films already have composers attached (and in some cases, scores already recorded) The ones I expect to get the most discussion around here are John Powell's LOCKED DOWN (Jan 14) Austin Wintory's BORN A CHAMPION (Jan 22) Thomas Newman's THE LITTLE THINGS (Jan 29) James Newton Howard's RAYA AND THE LAST DRAGON (Mar 5) Hans Zimmer's NO TIME TO DIE (Apr 2) Hans Zimmer and Harold Faltermeyer's TOP GUN: MAVERICK (Jul 2) Hans Zimmer and Kris Bowers' SPACE JAM: A NEW LEGACY (Jul 16) James Newton Howard's JUNGLE CRUISE (July 30) Patrick Doyle's DEATH ON THE NILE (Sep 17) Hans Zimmer and Steve Mazzaro's THE BOSS BABY: FAMILY BUSINESS (Sep 17) Hans Zimmer's DUNE (Oct 1) David Newman adapting Leonard Bernstein WEST SIDE STORY (Dec 17) Michael Giacchino's SPIDER-MAN 3 (Dec 17) Alexandre Desplat's PINOCCHIO (undated) Michael Giacchino's EXTINCT (undated) Hans Zimmer's HARRY HAFT (undated) But there's also tons of other films with announced composers that have the potential to get some discussion too, such as: Sean Callery's THE MARKSMAN (Jan 15) Rob Simonsen's OUR FRIEND (Jan 22) Ryuichi Sakamoto's MINAMATA (Feb 5) Christopher Lennertz's TOM AND JERRY (Feb 26) David Buckley's NOBODY (Feb 26) Henry Jackma's CHERRY (Feb 26) Marco Beltrami's CHAOS WALKING (Mar 5) Jon Ekstrand's MORBIUS (Mar 19) Benjamin Wallfisch's MORTAL KOMBAT (Apr 16) Gustavo Santaolalla's BIOS (Apr 16) Rupert Gregson Williams' FATHERHOOD (Apr 16) Marco Beltrami's A QUIET PLACE II (Apr 23) Lorne Balfe's BLACK WIDOW (May 7) Lorne Balfe's RUMBLE (May 14) Tom Holkenborg's GODZILLA VS KONG (May 21) Christophe Beck's FREE GUY (May 21) Charlie Clouser's SPIRAL (May 21) Brian Tyler's FAST AND FURIOUS 9 (May 28) Harry Gregson Williams' INFINITE (May 28) Rob Simonsen's GHOSTBUSTERS AFTERLIFE (Jun 11) Marco Beltrami's VENOM: LET THERE BE CARNAGE (Jun 25) Heitor Pereira's MINIONS: THE RISE OF GRU (Jul 2) The Newton Brothers' THE FOREVER PURGE (Jul 9) Lorne Balfe's THE TOMORROW WAR (Jul 23) Daniel Hart's THE GREEN KNIGHT (Jul 30) Ramin Djawadi's THE MAN FORM TORONTO (Sep 17) Harry Gregson-Williams' THE LAST DUEL (Oct 15) Ramin Djawadi's ETERNALS (Nov 5) John Debney's CLIFFORD: THE BIG RED DOG (Nov 5) Lorne Balfe's MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 7 (Nov 19) And there's plenty of films coming out with no announced composer yet, that could lead to interesting scores: Cinderella (Feb 5) The Many Saints of Newark (Mar 12) Bob's Burgers (Apr 9) Last Night In Soho (Apr 23) Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (Jul 9) Uncharted (Jul 16) Resident Evil (Sep 9) The Matrix 4 (Dec 22) The Nightingale (Dec 22) Out of all these scores what are you most looking forward to hearing? What scores not listed are you looking forward to? Any television or video games coming out in 2021 you are expecting to have interesting scores? What films from years past do you most hope gets an expansion or premiere release in 2021? Where do you stand on CD vs vinyl vs digital purchase vs digital streaming looking into 2021 and beyond? Thor 7,504
Of those, I'm primarily looking forward to the Zimmers, which are always an event. I'll take anything else as it comes. Each year, I find that my favourites are rarely among the big composers and titles and franchises, but discoveries I make under the radar. That's reflected in my 2020 list too (both the top 10 and the honourable mentions), and I'm sure it will be the same for 2021. I don't really buy CDs anymore, except the select few on my want list. I'm patiently waiting to find them at a cheap price, but it's not 2005 anymore. CD deals are tricky to find, and shipping has skyrocketed out of this world. But I'm in no hurry. I can wait. Edmilson 7,457
Two JNHs this year, and both are action fantasies. Cool. The only Zimmer score from this year I'm looking forward to is Dune. The rest was probably done with the help of his crew. I mean, Space Jam? Boss Baby? Come on.

Smeltington 1,440
I'll have to listen to the Powell score at least once. I look forward to hearing Zimmer's Dune score as well, I think we're all expecting him to try a little harder on that one. His Bond will be interesting to hear too, no matter what the results are. I want to hear Top Gun for Faltermeyer, so Zimmer's involvement there might potentially be frustrating, if the score feels too watered down, or if Faltermeyer's contributions are not apparent. I buy lots of vinyl, but it's almost all original pressings from the actual vinyl era (and usually not film scores). I still like buying new CDs... but not as much for expanded film scores, in which case I would rather be able to buy a digital copy, because I feel the need to rearrange things too often. It worked out well with Solo, where once I got the program I liked, I actually burned it to CD for the first time in a long time. 1 hour ago, Jurassic Shark said: My dream this year is to listen to good film scores. Lord Zimmer 211
All I see is $$$$ Most of these won’t make it this year, pandemic and all. Expecting a lot of delays, even if business gets back going I can’t imagine studios releasing it all to compete with each other. I have a CD player in my car and one in the house, and I've played it on both. It's in a jewel case, so I'll file it away with all my "real" CDs. It would be nice to have a label on the spine for that purpose, but I'm not sure if I'll get around to that. Maybe I'll write one up by hand, if nothing else. I did have fun drawing artwork on the discs in sharpie. Did you burn a copy yourself?

Jay 37,364
If I make a custom edit of a score, I plop it on my phone and play it in my car via bluetooth. If I want to play it from my living room setup, I play it through my Plex server. If I'm at my computer, I play it via WinAmp I don't need it on CD My wife's car doesn't even have a CD player in it, and when we replace my car this year, I'm sure the new one won't either
