Popular Post artguy360 1,844
Although a rarity, from time to time, JW has written music to score the trailer to films he's worked on. Other times, his music for the film is used in the trailer for said film. What do you consider to be the best and worst of the bunch? Not at all a hot take, the best has to be the HP1 teaser trailer: For me, runner up would be Nixon, the music truly does capture "the turbulent years": What are your picks? Which are the worst? bored, Bellosh and pete

Popular Post Not Mr. Big 4,643
It's between the War Horse trailer and the Lincoln trailer. Both were peak "JW score anticipation" events Bellosh, TheUlyssesian, Will and 1 other
Datameister 2,044
If we're talking trailers for which JW wrote bespoke music, options that come to mind are: Nixon HPSS POA Hook TFA 1941 Any others? Of those, HPSS is probably my favorite. Least favorite is 1941, which lacks the zany exuberance of the score proper. (Although I admit I'm not familiar with Nixon.) Edmilson 7,475
Not written by JW himself, but I'll always remember the creepy version of the Jurassic Park theme for the first World: The Zimmerized Force theme that ends TLJ's trailer is so cliche and silly that it's actually fun: Bellosh and Raiders of the SoundtrArk
Erik Woods 555
Nixon, IMO, is hands down the single greatest trailer ever cut with the single greatest piece of trailer music of all time! Nothing comes even close. I think the worst use of Williams' music in any trailer is the Dial of Destiny trailer. -Erik- Yavar Moradi and Bellosh 1
geom_00 36
I am not sure if this is JW or not, but I LOVED the Big Bold Brassy sound of the Main Star Wars theme at 1:@6 Bellosh
Popular Post Bellosh 3,420
Gonna go with my two favorites: Crystal Skull trailer #2. the syncing of the 'rocket sled timer' with that fanfare part of the Raiders March, still get chills to this day. the hype for that movie back then was palpable. and of course, War Horse. i will still tear up to that theme War Horse crushes me, man Brando, artguy360, Raiders of the SoundtrArk and 1 other 2
tranders65 65
If we're going strictly with trailers that JW scored specifically, I think you have to also add Bachelor Flat and None But The Brave to the list. Don't know that any of them are "worst", but while I do think the 1941 trailer music is fun and a great listen, since it doesn't technically have any thematic material from the actual movie (which hadn't been composed at that stage), guess I'd go with that one as least favorite. (The movie itself was just as great; probably Stone’s high-water mark as a filmmaker.) Erik Woods

Tom 4,673
Tangent: Will we get a trailer for Spielberg's JW documentary? I wonder how it will be scored.
bored 309
This will always be one of my favorites. Don't know if it's written entirely by Williams or just the second half but the tension in the first half building to the very last time we ever hear the Harry/family theme until the 8th movie is incredibly satisfying:

bored 309
That's a shame, I figured that's what it was but still was hoping for it to be Williams. Either way it was at least nice to hear it before the films abandon the old themes almost entirely.

Will probably only have existing music (did the Morricone documentary have original music?). I know nuttin' 'bout no trailers. They've never interested me much, nor their music. But I'm reminded of something we talked about in another thread, the wonderful use of Preisner's FAIRY TALE in the A.I. trailer. Was any Williams music ready at that point?
