nightscape94 967 Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Terrible.http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/08/11/robin-williams-dead-dies_n_5670050.html
chuck 155 Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Sad to hear this. He was one of my fave comedians.
Matt C 541 Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Devastating news. Loved his work in Aladdin and Miss Doubtfire.
Popular Post Sharkissimo 1,975 Posted August 11, 2014 Popular Post Posted August 11, 2014 Wonderful in INSOMINA and ONE HOUR PHOTO. Glóin the Dark, Sweeping Strings and crocodile 3
Trent B 347 Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Definitely sad news. He was awesome in Hook. He'll be missed.

BLUMENKOHL 1,087 Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 What a damned shame. I honestly don't know what else to say.
Quintus 5,721 Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 What in the holy fuck??? Jesus. Damn. I hate the internet sometimes, and the sudden immediacy of it all.Just stunned, that's all I can say.
KK 3,310 Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 My God...shit.Hard to believe really...just crazy...RIP
Matt C 541 Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Definitely sad news. He was awesome in Hook. He'll be missed.Oh definitely. I forgot about that movie.
KK 3,310 Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 A lot of my childhood was built around this man
Quintus 5,721 Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Of ALL the people. Of all the fucking people. RIP, troubled funnyman.
Wojo 2,458 Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Guess that answers any talk of a Mrs. Doubtfire sequel.
Code 000. Destruct. 0. 4,261 Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Not a nice pit to fall into. I'm sorry he didn't make it back up.
filmmusic 2,638 Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 I thought this is a joke!I can't believe it!!!!!!
Glóin the Dark 1,516 Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 Jesus... Tiny but funny cameo in Deconstructing Harry.
KK 3,310 Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 Guess that answers any talk of a Mrs. Doubtfire sequel.I would have wanted to see that
mrbellamy 7,328 Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 Oh God, not Robin This one hurts. I know he was a severely troubled man, but he always seemed so positive and optimistic when discussing his struggles with depression and addiction. It's easy to forget that someone who was such a beacon of happiness had so much inner turmoil. I suppose it's not an uncommon story, but it doesn't make it any less heartbreaking.
Sir Hilary Bray 235 Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 Devastated. An inspiration as a kid for the comedy and all the rest that followed. Just awful.
filmmusic 2,638 Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 First role I had seen him was in Dead Poets Society at the age of 9!I didn't know that he was a comic actor. That film marked me...
Wycket 36 Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 Sad news.Like many here, I grew up watching him in various different things and he always gave interesting performances. Whether it be comedy or drama, he always brought a dynamic unlike anyone else, and even though he may have lost that ability in recent years, he was still a great actor and one of those who could sway me to watch a film of his even if it had been derided by the critics. Tragic news, but of all celebrity deaths, its probably one of the least surprising. He has been a known drug and alcohol abuser, and like many comedians suffered from severe depression. Dealing with the lingering illness of a parent in recent years, I understand how its easy to fall into a pit of depression, and its unfortunate to see that he was not able to climb out of it. He will be missed, but his legacy will continue to bring laughs for generations to come.
Sharkissimo 1,975 Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 As someone who also suffers from bipolar disorder, this has hit home hard.

karelm 3,191 Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 I am sorry to hear you have this, Sharky. I bumped into Robin Williams in a public bathroom a few years ago and can say he had a deep love for his kids. I hope they know they meant so much to him that he commented on it to me, a total stranger, in the bathroom. RIP.
King Mark 3,834 Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 I remember watching the Happy Days episode that first featured Mork
Ravi Krishna 83 Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 Shocked to hear that. I adored his work in Aladdin as the Genie, and Roosevelt from Night at the Museum. May he rest in peace.
Uni 307 Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 I . . . simply can't believe this. What a shock. Makes you suddenly realize that he was one of those people in the scope of your life who was always just there. He's a fixture. The world just isn't the same without his manic energy.I taped the full length of this interview (only partially shown here, and focused a little more on his mentor, Jonathan Winters) back in 1986. It's always stuck in my mind as a glimpse into what made Robin tick. I adore watching these two work--and most of all, watching them make each other laugh so much:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iDJjq0Pd0RMMan, I'm gonna miss this guy. . . . Glóin the Dark 1
RedBard 71 Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 Just heard about this today. Couldn't believe it myself. This is why depression needs to be addressed and why those with it should never keep silent about it.Loved him in Dead Poets Society and Hook.I don't know if this is appropriate or not, but I've read cases of asphyxiation victims who have come back to life in what is known as Lazarus Syndome, and they go on to live full lives. It's extremely rare, but a part of me wishes so badly that it would happen to him. It just wasn't his time.
Red 75 Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 This is absolutely terrible. He was beloved in my household as well as countless others and to have him go in this way is heartbreaking.
indy4 159 Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 So sad. I knew he had some troubles, but in public he always appeared so happy. The Academy tweeted this really touching post: https://twitter.com/TheAcademy/status/498996314395246593/photo/1
Incanus 5,858 Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 Oh such terribly sad news! Rest in peace.Robin Williams had such incredible talent for comedy with mindboggling ability to find humour in anything in a heart beat but I most remember him for his humane warm roles in films where he projected often such vulnerablity.
Lady Dimitrescu 9,918 Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 In my family, we always joked that my dad had a little more than a passing resemblance to Robin Williams, even though none of us picked up that weird gene. So there goes dad's look-a-like.

Datameister 2,443 Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 Very, very sad. Until today, I didn't fully realize just how many lives he had touched - or just how much he had touched mine. Mental disorders suck.

I mean, committing suicide makes you "free"? What a terrible message.

publicist 4,648 Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 RIP. For all the tragedy involved, he had a hell of a run and lit more brightly than most other humans while he was alive.
DreamTheater 131 Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 Shocked to read the news too... Hook is so close to my heart and Robin is so big a part of my enjoyment of it than it truly saddens me that he had so many mental problems. He always seemed so optimistic and wanted to cheer up the people with his jokes, energy and optimistic spirit."To live would be an awfully big adventure".That'll be so hard to hear him say it from now on.
A24 4,814 Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 Strange, two days ago I thought, it's August, so an icon will die.RIP

DreamTheater 131 Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 Jeez, I forgot about Patch Adams, literally no one else could've made it work. Also Toys and The Birdcage were fun to see him in.Good Morning Vietnam is a one-man show that I have to watch again someday.
