filmmusic 1,838
I guess that most people's here favourite composer is John Williams (since they're here). So, if there was no John Williams, who would be your favourite film composer? Meaning you would actively participate in a forum about him, follow his news, get most of his releases, etc. Please pick just one! Without hesitation, I'd say I'd be a JGfan! Gruesome Son of a Bitch 6,488
An alternate universe with no John Williams where James Horner scored Star Wars and Jerry Goldsmith scored the films of Steven Spielberg? I'm in.

nightscape94 965
I probably would never have gotten into film music, and quite possibly orchestral/classical music. I can't overstate the impact Williams has had on my musical direction. He prevented me from having an Hoobastank phase.

Arpy 4,145
If there was no John Williams wouldn't that affect quite a few younger composers working today, whose inspiration was Williams? I would pick Giacchino, Howard Shore or Thomas Newman. to pick one: Thomas Newman

Thor 7,518
Well, it seems like a fairly easy question to answer. I'd just move one spot down on my 'favourites' list, and there I'll find Danny Elfman. But the fact is that I've been less enthused by him in later years. Well, to be more precise, I still love his drama scores, but his big blockbuster action sound, I can hardly stomach. So perhaps I need to go to my third, who is Elliot Goldenthal. Nick1Ø66 4,720
Williams existence would impact the nature of the universe and unleash powers you can't possibly understand. One simply cannot remove Williams from the equation and assuming everything else would remain the same. Half the composers working today probably wouldn't be in the business were it not for Williams. In fact, they might not be around at all. Allow me to elaborate. It's well known that then Soviet Premier Leonid Breshnev forgoed (or forwent, if you must) a nuclear first strike on the west after hearing a black market copy of the Star Wars OST LP which had been smuggled into Moscow. "I cannot in good conscience destroy a society that can create music of this kind" he's reported to have said. So it's quite possible that JW saved all of civilisation. So the answer to the question is, none. You'd be dead. James and Pieter Boelen 1
Bespin 8,484
Charles Aznavour, in fact I was a fan of Charles Aznavour (who is also a composer , not only and author), before being a real JWfanner. Few know that Aznavour onyl wrote the music from la bolème, the lyrcis are from Jacques Plante. Three of songs for he composed only the music: Charles Aznavour & Josh Groban - La bohème Charles Aznavour & Sting - Love in new every day Charles Aznavour & Julio Iglesias - Que c'est triste Venise
