They are not so evil, however, to not allow you to bring five, and only five, albums to entertain you — for the rest of your mortal life. What are they? For me: Beethoven Symphonies 3&4 - John Eliot Gardiner/Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique The Five Sacred Trees - John Williams/London Symphony Orchestra Illinois - Sufjan Stevens Kind of Blue - Miles Davis Mahler Symphony no. 5 - Simon Rattle/Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra Smeltington, Davis, MrJosh and 1 other 3

Popular Post Thor 8,517
Ah, the classic "desert island" challenge! Five is insanely difficult. A few years ago, I selected 144 essential albums in my life (a challenge given to me by someone else), and even that was a tricky limitation. Can be viewed in this thread over on FSM. However, if someone put a gun to my head, then maybe these at the present time: Supertramp - Even in the Quietest Moments John Williams - Jurassic Park Hans Zimmer - Beyond Rangoon Vangelis - Oceanic Jean Michel Jarre - Houston/Lyon But that hurt. Had to omit several essential albums by artists to which I have a completist relationship, even. Like Pink Floyd, The Alan Parsons Project, Rammstein, Danny Elfman, Elliot Goldenthal etc. etc. Davis, Schilkeman, bruce marshall and 1 other 2 1

Popular Post GerateWohl 5,167
Piazzolla Tango Ballet - Kremer Atta Baltika Ten - Pearl Jam Absent Friends - The Divine Comedy Quo Vadis - Miklós Rózsa The Berlin Concert - John Williams But it is really hard to pick one Williams album. Even two would be almost impossible. About some of them, the most important ones, I believe I know them inside out or I heard them just often enough, so I don't need to listen to them. And others are not important enough. But Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny would be a hot candidate as well. Popular Post ThePenitentMan1 1,065
Assuming that fanedits are allowed: -John Williams: Star Wars ANH -John Williams: Raiders Of The Lost Ark -Bruce Broughton: Lost in Space -Jerry Goldsmith: Star Trek TMP [It was a really tough decision between this and ESB.] -Yoko Shimomura: Kingdom Hearts Final Mix [To make up for the fact that I won't be able to play KH1 ever again in this scenario. Otherwise, I'd probably pick ESB.] Assuming fanedits aren't allowed, and that it really is only albums that we have to live with: -John Williams: Raiders Of The Lost Ark, 1995 DCC Album [I love the rest of the score, too, but it's hard to complain about the DCC Album's cue selection.] -Bruce Broughton: Lost in Space, 1998 TVT Album -Bruce Broughton: Lost in Space, 1999 Intrada Album -Bruce Broughton: Lost in Space, 2016 2-CD Intrada Album -Yoko Shimomura: Kingdom Hearts OST 2-CD Album Oh, and I would gladly give up all five albums if I get to play with the complete recording sessions for Broughton's Lost In Space for the rest of time. My first exposure to it was the Lost In Space Learning Adventure CD-ROM game. That CD-ROM might've been the reason why this score felt like a whole galaxy for me to explore when I was a kid! The game's soundtrack consisted of small samples of music taken from the film's recording sessions, including Decades Old, Pt.2 with a clean opening, and a small loop taken from Major Mayhem! The latter puzzled me for ages until I heard the sample for Track 2 of the 2016 Intrada release. enderdrag64 and Davis

Popular Post Edmilson 9,141
That's a hard question for me. I dunno, sometimes I'm in the mood for a horror score and sometimes for something completely different, maybe more romantic or atmospheric. Which is why I need to have at my disposition a wide variety of music, capable of answering my very timely needs. Even from one composer to another my musical needs sometimes change. Sometimes I'm in the mood for Braveheart or The Rocketeer or whatever and other times I can't stand those scores and I need Aliens. Sometimes I want something kick-ass as Visitor in San Diego, dark choir like Anakin's Dark Deeds, emotional and cathartic like Gryffindor Wins the House Cup, romantic and peaceful like Ann and Gabriel or The Family Farm, etc. But if I had to choose just 5 albums to live for rest of what would be a pitiful life, then I think I'd choose something more nice and wholesome: Water for Elephants - James Newton Howard (FYC version, which is chronological, has better listening experience and ommits the period songs); The Horse Whisperer - Thomas Newman (though I'd have a pretty hard time deciding between this and The Shawshank Redemption); Legends of the Fall - James Horner (the complete score, whether it's the LLL or the bootleg); Dances with Wolves - John Barry (2015 25th anniversary edition); The Light Between the Oceans - Alexandre Desplat Problem is, as much as I love those scores, eventually I'd grow tired of only having them to listen to. And I'd miss the other wonderful scores or non-film score music that I would never be able to listen to. So I'd probably kill myself in despair after another failed attempt to remember The Last Samurai, The Lord of the Rings, Apollo 13, Indiana Jones trilogy etc. Davis, Andy and Schilkeman

Richard P 4,269
I listen to quite a lot of non-soundtracks that I'd find it hard to never hear again, so actually choosing just a few scores is the challenge here. I'm going to pretend that my first option is a 2-CD 'box set' so to speak. If we're going with the idea that soundtrack box sets with multiple scores could be allowed, then I think I should be allowed this. If I'm not then Jurassic would have to go. I just love the other two scores more. But not actual albums though, mostly Spotify playlists or online radio stations. So I do have a lot of songs that I love and I can't see myself spending a lifetime without listening to them again. They're mostly songs that remind me of aspects of my life, kinda like it was my own soundtrack to the soap opera that is my life (lol). James Horner - Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan (LLL) 5. Billy Joel - 52nd Street Honorable Mentions that I will miss dearly: John Williams - By Request John Williams - The Empire Strikes Back James Horner - Star Trek: The Search for Spock The Beatles - Abbey Road The Beatles - Sgt.
