TownerFan got a reaction from Marian Schedenig in John Williams conducts Filarmonica della Scala, Milan, Italy, 12 December 2022!
When I saw that the sale was being handled through that ticketing website (Vivaticket.it), I feared the outcome could be very negative for a lot of people, no matter how early you got there. Today I had the confirmation that this platform has one of the worst queueing system around (it seems to privilege people who buy seats through the "Find Best" option rather than picking them manually). Anyway, I tried and wasn't successful. My wife was on another computer at work and it was the same for her. The system kept booting us out before checking out after we picked our seats. I have many friends who weren't successful either, so we're in a big good company to share woes. An Italian saying goes, "Shared pain, half the joy".

I feel sorry especially for the people who were already arranging traveling plans because of this concert. For once in my life, it was the mountain coming to Muhammad, so I didn't have to deal with booking flights and hotels.

But it feels more than awkward to have John playing in my hometown and be left out of the theater. Life has a lot of sense of irony, doesn't it?

Thank you all for the nice words.

It's more than likely there will be return tickets available closer to the date, plus people canceling their plans and selling tickets, etc. as you all have noted. It always happens. I was bitten by this turn of the events on the spot since I was in front of my computer since 9am, but then I realized it wasn't any different than other situations. It's a single night gig and the theater capacity is under 2,000 seats. It was expected to sell out in minutes.

And Jay, we'll make your stay in our city very pleasant, that's for sure!

As for me, count me amongst the fools who planned our only major vacation since 2019 around this concert, already having booked accommodations in four different cities in Italy, only to not have a ticket to the show

Don't give up hope @TownerFan! Still plenty of time for people to cancel tickets and seats to become available again (especially with covid running amok).

It's one of the most heart-tugging moments in the history of cinema. The music accompanies E.T. telling Elliot "come" and him answering "stay", which is the moment in which the tears have to flow and the story reaches its emotional peak. E.T. is such a masterpiece in how it builds tension and then releases it in the most profound and musically satisfactory way. It's a prime example of Williams looking at the film and writing music that express his sincere emotional reaction, like us audience.

TownerFan got a reaction from Edmilson in Your personal top 5 worst Spielberg Films
AFAIK, the issue was that when JW started writing the music (October 2001), the cut wasn't locked yet and many of those battle scenes were still unfinished and/or in previz format. Sessions at Abbey Road with the LSO were booked a little earlier than usual (second half of January 2002) because JW had to start work on Minority Report immediately after finishing AOTC and then jump onto Potter 2 and Catch Me If You Can right after that. So the choice of tracking existing Star Wars music over those battle scenes (under the supervision of Ken Wannberg) was made already during the spotting session.
