Amer got a reaction from Bespin in Soundtracks, Compilations, or other recently purchased Music
Start with VERTIGO- fantastic recording followed by TROUBLE WITH HARRY, MARNIE, 7th VOYAGE OF SINBAD, THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL and ofcourse PSYCHO But dont forget NORTH BY NORTHWEST although done by another orchestra but expertly conducted by Joel McNeely, TORN CURTAIN will disap-point becuase of poor recording accoustics so avoid it. CITIZEN KANE is alright but there are better recordings!

Yes both of these are rather well done. Also checkout MIDWAY.

I finally bought a used copy of Jaws re-recorded by the Royal Scottish Orchestra.
I love so much their Superman re-recording (more than the original recording, I don't know why).
I'm currently discovering many other re-recordings they made over the years, I simply love them!

Amer reacted to The Five Tones in John Williams & the Vienna Philharmonic: January 18/19 2020
CD arrived from Amazon on Saturday. Such a historic event and I'm so happy about it as a fan and amazed at the achievement, even if by the time I got down to listening to the music I had a hard time not comparing it to everything that's come before especially recently with the Dudamel and Mutter releases. As a general response. And having that composer/musician perfectionist response (i.e. wasn't there time to retake all the mistakes?). And if I'm being honest, having that biased reaction in hearing American music performed by continental European orchestras, no matter how great or interconnected with the repertoire style-wise, still not quite an ideal fit. Shouldn't really matter on this occasion, right? The trick is to take what is a nostalgic viewpoint on all of these classic gems and get into the moment. Still, the editing out of nuanced transitions, retouching of details here and there and adding concert endings compared to the recordings during the film scoring sessions inevitably throw me off, no less now than in the 80s or 90s, etc. All that said, I'm still chiming in to say "Bravo, Maestro." I really appreciate the noise free presentation, and the sound of the orchestra and the hall is quite superb. (I was listening to the maestro's music on a tuned audiophile system starting in 1980 so I've been paying close attention a long time!) I really heard those echoes of Korngold in Hook. I was most moved by CE3K and Luke and Leia. The Imperial March was *impressive* and both it and the Raiders March were suitably stately. Looking forward to watching the video at some point.
Oh, and was an HQ square cover image for the CD posted anywhere?

Amer reacted to Gurkensalat in John Williams & the Vienna Philharmonic: January 18/19 2020
Yes, Blu-ray pure audio format. Unfortunately the intention behind this format (listening without monitor like a CD) is hampered here, because it is found on the menu below the Concert (the first, highlighted option). So if you want to listen to the Blu-ray audio tracks, you have to remember to wait until the menu is loaded, click then on „down“ on the remote, and the enter. If all goes well, you are listening to high resolution 2.0 stereo tracks of the CD program. If you want it in 5.1, you have to change it with the color buttons on the remote. Not the best user experience, but at least it is there on the disc.

Amer got a reaction from Bellosh in 'Your own' Ideal John Williams Concert Programe !
With all the lash back on the John Williams in Vienna concert release, I thought it would be nice if such a concert were to be reprised again in Vienna or Europe. I thought it would be nice to see if we could come up with ‘our own’ idealized version of what a Williams Concert program be like. So, feel free to make your own and add to the post here. (But just ensure that the Concert Program should be well balanced. We can’t have all the exciting adventures cues back to back. There should be a breather in between those with slower or lighter cues)
Here is mine:
1. Liberty Fanfare
2. Young Indy’s First Adventure from The Last Crusade
3. Harry’s Wondrous World from Harry Potter and The Sorcerer’s Stone
4. ‘March’ from Superman
5. With Malice Toward None from Lincoln
6. March from Raiders of the Lost Ark
7. Dartmoor, 1912 from War Horse

" E.T AND ME" in concert?
I agree it's a better choice than ADVENTURE

Amer reacted to Docteur Qui in 'Your own' Ideal John Williams Concert Programe !
In all honesty I’d really just love to watch him conduct entire films live to projection. It’s a shame that it wasn’t feasible (or in the public interest) back in the 80s/90s, otherwise I imagine he would have done it.
On the other hand I have a feeling he’s always enjoyed performing his own music on its own merit, separate from the image or (god forbid) sound effects. So it’s maybe not so surprising.

Amer reacted to bollemanneke in 'Your own' Ideal John Williams Concert Programe !
Ooh, this is interesting. So, obviously, the LSO would play all of it, Dirk Brossé or Keith Lockhart would conduct it and someone would have the common sense to ensure a proper recording was made.

Like many others above, I'd also add something from Lost World and Lincoln (especially if it's the VPO, to let their brass section shine again), just not sure what exactly.
And definitely Summon the Heroes. Would probably make a good final piece, either for the regular programme or as the last encore.
That just shows your age.
...oh, and a 20 minute suite from CE3K.

I was just about to type something similar.
I saw Williams at the Hollywood Bowl just as Lost World was premiering. He started with the Main Title and it just brought the house down. I get chills just thinking about it.
