Taikomochi 1,360 Posted November 11, 2018 Posted November 11, 2018 I definitely believe he said those things, though. Just maybe someone told him after the fact it was not politically wise to have done so.

Taikomochi 1,360 Posted November 11, 2018 Posted November 11, 2018 Sounds empty to me but I guess we’ll see
KK 3,310 Posted November 11, 2018 Posted November 11, 2018 Considering how much that article just blew up, that definitely just sounds like public image control.

Xander Harris 8,496 Posted November 11, 2018 Posted November 11, 2018 Didn't Tarantino refer to film scoring as 'ghetto'?
Brundlefly 2,400 Posted November 11, 2018 Posted November 11, 2018 Something is going completely wrong here! What the hell?!
Mr. Who 1,031 Posted November 11, 2018 Posted November 11, 2018 The original interview where he slammed everything from the Oscars to Tarantino etc seemed very out of character so it's not that surprising that it's fake. The great directors he listed did not include Sergio Leone lol...
publicist 4,649 Posted November 11, 2018 Posted November 11, 2018 The truth lies somewhere in between. As it usually does.
Nick Parker 3,049 Posted November 11, 2018 Posted November 11, 2018 Morricone is shutting their butts down!
Xander Harris 8,496 Posted November 11, 2018 Posted November 11, 2018 Why would Playboy publish false comments by this guy? Anyone else remember the allegedly fake foreign interview with JW where he griped about Star Wars: Episode One?

Anyone else remember the allegedly fake foreign interview with JW where he griped about Star Wars: Episode One? That was the context! I was literally just trying to remember that. That was really out of John Williams' character, both behaviorally, and verbally. Stuff where you as a fan say, "John Williams doesn't talk like that...."
Xander Harris 8,496 Posted November 11, 2018 Posted November 11, 2018 Morricone probably thinks his movies are trash because they are. I mean the last one which he did had a woman being violently assaulted over and over again and a guy sucking another guy's dick. I'm sure he was expecting a bit of a classier western when he agreed to do it. Taikomochi 1
Taikomochi 1,360 Posted November 11, 2018 Posted November 11, 2018 Morricone has previously criticized Tarantino. It's not really out of character.
Koray Savas 2,255 Posted November 11, 2018 Posted November 11, 2018 All he said is that he didn’t like how violent Django was.

You know, there is a difference between considering someone a cretin and considering the movie of someone as too gruesome.
Kasey Kockroach 2,598 Posted November 11, 2018 Posted November 11, 2018 I would think Tarantino would be high class compared to stuff like Orca!
publicist 4,649 Posted November 12, 2018 Posted November 12, 2018 If you only would ask Morricone about 'Orca' you'd probably get an earful, too. Kasey Kockroach 1
antovolk 100 Posted November 13, 2018 Posted November 13, 2018 And the publisher is still standing by the interview. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/amp/news/german-playboy-stands-by-ennio-morricone-story-trashing-tarantino-1160509?__twitter_impression=true
Lady Dimitrescu 10,262 Posted November 13, 2018 Posted November 13, 2018 So why did people react with so much defensive outrage at what Ennio (supposedly) said? Did Quentin's movies help them through their chronic depression or something, and they feel they owe him a life debt?
Kalman 1 Posted November 14, 2018 Posted November 14, 2018 Yesterday Playboy admitted "mistakes"...: https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/playboy-germany-admits-mistakes-ennio-morricone-tarantino-interview-1160699?utm_source=twitter
Jay 43,908 Posted December 3, 2018 Posted December 3, 2018 Music Box Records just announced La Cage Aux Folles I, II, and III in a new 2CD set https://www.musicbox-records.com/en/cd-soundtracks/6729-la-cage-aux-folles-1-2-3.html Once 1
Jurassic Shark 15,566 Posted January 28, 2019 Posted January 28, 2019 The Maestro has composed the music to more than 500 films. Out of these, only a small fraction were for Hollywood films. Do anybody know how many that is? I'm just curious, and I certainly don't consider Hollywood films a sign of superior music.

And why is Trump on the cover? Now, if only someone could do a definitive release of The Good, the Bad, and The Ugly...
Koray Savas 2,255 Posted January 29, 2019 Posted January 29, 2019 Morricone was scoring 30+ films a year in the 60s and 70s.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 11,275 Posted January 29, 2019 Posted January 29, 2019 I assume many of these are very short?
mstrox 7,281 Posted January 29, 2019 Posted January 29, 2019 Films were shorter and much more sparsely spotted back then, yes, but incredible nonetheless. That's less than 12 days per score.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 11,275 Posted January 29, 2019 Posted January 29, 2019 Well if its just a main title and a few tracks and they're tracked throughout the film a couple of times.
Koray Savas 2,255 Posted January 29, 2019 Posted January 29, 2019 I don’t think he ever scores to picture. He could churn out 20 mins and send it off.
Jurassic Shark 15,566 Posted January 29, 2019 Posted January 29, 2019 He at least always watches the film before starting to write. Sunshine Reger 1
Popular Post Thor 9,323 Posted January 30, 2019 Popular Post Posted January 30, 2019 My review of his Oslo concert two days ago (in English): http://celluloidtunes.no/ennio-morricone-in-oslo/ SteveMc, Once and Jurassic Shark 3
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 11,275 Posted January 30, 2019 Posted January 30, 2019 Excellent review Thor, thank you!
Thor 9,323 Posted January 30, 2019 Posted January 30, 2019 Thanks! Did it differ much from the programme you saw in Rotterdam awhile back? I'm curious to know if he's made any changes in the three years he's done this particular tour.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 11,275 Posted January 30, 2019 Posted January 30, 2019 I don't recall the exact program, but yours is different.
Thor 9,323 Posted January 30, 2019 Posted January 30, 2019 Yes, Milan at FSM posted the Rotterdam programme: https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/ennio-morricone/2017/ahoy-rotterdam-netherlands-6be20e9e.html Seems like it was quite a different set list indeed.
Jurassic Shark 15,566 Posted June 10, 2020 Posted June 10, 2020 Anybody got this 1998 Sony expansion of Legend of 1900? Is it worth acquiring?
Jurassic Shark 15,566 Posted June 10, 2020 Posted June 10, 2020 Nope. I'm considering getting this expanded version, despite the awful cover art, since I've found it's available for a good price.
publicist 4,649 Posted June 10, 2020 Posted June 10, 2020 It's a great score. The long overture is the pièce de résistance.
Jurassic Shark 15,566 Posted June 10, 2020 Posted June 10, 2020 It's not my favorite Morricone score, but it's good enough to warrant having it on CD. I'm just wondering whether the additional tracks are any good. I don't need a longer presentation that makes the listening experience less interesting.
publicist 4,649 Posted June 10, 2020 Posted June 10, 2020 Rule of thumb: there are 5 million Morricone scores, and less than 5 of them need an expanded release. The old Sony cd is more than sufficient.
