Tom 4,658
His concert works tend in that direction for me. The Bassoon Concerto, even Highwood's Ghost. This piece has always struck me as strangely mysterious. Raiders of the SoundtrArk and karelm

Thor 7,504
"Mysterious" is a rather vague term. I would need some more specifics. karelm
GerateWohl 4,369
Musically mysterious or score illustrating something mysterious in a brillant way? For the first category the flute concerto comes to mind. I have no idea what's happening there.

Datameister 2,043
There's the soft passage for strings, piano, and percussion in ESB when the Rebel troops are looking out across the surface of Hoth, waiting for the Empire to show up. Naïve Old Fart 9,528
Heartwood. It's musical mist. It's a walk in a forest, after the rain: ethereal, and ever so slightly apprehensive. I love it. Cerebral Cortex

Reminds me a bit of Goldenthal's demented horror scoring in Interview with the vampire because of the waltz (like Lestat's dance) interspersed with demented music. 7 hours ago, Datameister said: There's the soft passage for strings, piano, and percussion in ESB when the Rebel troops are looking out across the surface of Hoth, waiting for the Empire to show up. Hehe, I know exactly what moment you mean. Right before the rebel's fire the turrets. The problem I have is that isn't a cue, it's a brief moment in the score. Is there an entire cue in his body of work that best captures that same mood? how about the search for the blue fairy? Joni Wiljami
