wasn't this music in europe for centuries?

Until the Baroque period CENTURIES ago when Back, Vivaldi and others decided to actually take you on some form of journey through a musical landscape filled with themes and modulation and orchestration and it continued growing from then on. Zimmer comes from a pop background where he and others like him do not know how to do all that, hence the simplistic and to some people "hypnotic" quality of his efforts lull them into thinking he is some sort of musical wonder. He really is not, plus, who is actually writing his stuff? Do you know that on one of his nature scores, he was on tour, three other composers did all the work, he did not write one note, yet it is his name on it? And no, this is not second hand info, trust me on this or not, it is true. Not even the main theme was him. Don't get me started hehe

That's sweet, but I'm not sure I'd consider that a sign of his age if that's what you meant. I think the only few signs of his age are physical. Mentally, he's a sharp and eloquent as he ever was - at least in interiews and his music. And after all, the movie wasn't called A New Hope when he scored it almost 50 years ago.

Yes I know, it was just Star Wars, and no, that was the cute part. The way he was walking and needed some help here and there. I go pretty much every year, I can't remember him needing any help last two years and when he was conducting the way he was breathing even felt different. Still, more power to him and if only all of us are doing half as much as him at that age :)

Wow! It sounds absolutely amazing! As usual. Congratulations Wael Binali ! Williams level of quality of composition in my opinion! :john:

Thank you xoxox I'm trying to work harder at really looking at harmonic structure and modulation and orchestration. Orchestration is totally easy for me, I can orchestrate in my sleep, but not so the rest. I think I struggle with a lot of other things and I tried through all 7 of these pieces and last years little 5 pieces to work on my weaknesses.

Maybe it was their mutual decision to go that direction. I'm so sad they didn't ask ocelot.

Right? I mean... I KNOW BEST!!!!!!! lol

Hey, listen, I have loved 99% of William's output, it's OK if this one is not gonna be anywhere near my "must listen to again" list. I'm happy many of you are loving it xox

Be patient. Apparently Williams revisits the Golden Age sound in Indy V.

Please no, I want pure indy for that and not Gone with the Wind, lol

Very few people seem to have mixed or negative reactions to this score. Which is awesome! But I'd like to hear more from those who don't enjoy the album so much.

For me, it's a big meh. The tone of the JW tracks is very uniform except for a couple moments. The classical pieces gladly add some variety, but those performances really lack character. They're played well, but blandly. Such a boring performance of one of my favorite Haydns! (JW's extension of the piece is really not that interesting.) And the whole album uses way too much reverb to create that melancholy vibe. It sounds so artificial. Plus, the tracks are all way too short to develop an interesting form/story. It's always over before it's really started. I like the themes, I like the simplicity, the sort of naivety, and I'm sure a couple tracks will end up in my playlists -- but the album as a whole, from top to bottom: meh. Not in my top 50 best JW...

    Am I alone?

Nope, already said, same for me, I was like, really? When he could have delved into Old Hollywood as the basis of why Spielberg fell in love with movies and really harkened back to the golden age of hollywood, instead he goes into simple, yes beautiful and cute piano piece with strings nd harp and celeste.... No real journey in the whole score.
