Tallguy 3,402
Well, there IS a person (I don't know if it's always Lacey) in the surrounding shots. And if you look at 8:20 there is also a person. I think. And it's almost the same position as "lump of clothes". My first thought is I wonder if he was sick and they were shooting around him. Sweeping Strings 2,365
The Death Of Dick Long - not about the demise of a porn star despite its title, this fitfully amusing dark comedy set in a small Alabaman town revolves around the 'death by misadventure' of the titular character on a night when he and his friends decide to 'get weird' and their subsequent inept efforts to cover up their involvement. Braven - actioner with Jason Momoa in which he heads with his family to their holiday cabin, only to find themselves beset by drug traffickers. It takes until about halfway through for the shootouts, punch-ups etc to really get going but they're pretty up to scratch when they do. Slightly preposterous, but then aren't most action flicks? JoeinAR 1,949
We were watching gv when a Universal film came on with its bombastic theme and it hit me watch E.t. the Extraterrestrial. Neithrr of us had watched it since the pandemic so I put on the BR. I paid close attention to the music. Every beat ever note is ingrained in my being. We watched all through the credits. David and I did not try to hide any tears. Its still my favorite movie and score. David said shat's next and I said E.T. part 1 aka Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Shockingly my husband had never seen it. Again every note every beat is a part of me. . Naïve Old Fart and bruce marshall

Tom Guernsey 2,287
Avatar. The other half missed the sequel in cinemas but couldn't remember what happened in the original so we watched it on D+ by way of a catch-up. Visually it holds up really well (new LG OLED 4K TV helps... I have to say, the colours are astonishing), with FX that are more or less flawless most of the time. I could probably have done without the narration - it feels like an unnecessary crutch, and it's long enough that you don't need it as a shortcut to fill in the backstory. Having said that, for 3 hour film, if sure doesn't feel it. As ever, Cameron's US army villains are insufferably annoying. I get having a boo hiss villain, but Quaritch is so over the top I just found him grating every time he appeared on screen. I gather there's some deleted scenes which show earth in a parlous state (albeit self-inflicted) which could give a little bit (and I mean an absolutely minuscule amount) of justification to the plundering of Pandora. The Na'Vi seem a bit more stereotypical primitive/spiritual than in the sequel (but that could be my imagination). Horner's score is, of course, wonderful, and the OST seems to cover the major highlights, notwithstanding the (approx) 104539727 different boots/recording sessions floating around clearly add a whole lot more than the OST and what appears in the film. Popular Post Bellosh 3,419
I watched Cast Away this past weekend while I was struck with a fever and body aches. It was almost therapeutic to see someone in a worse situation. Movie is still as great as I remember and maybe one of Hanks best performances. I mean just the way his voice cracks when he yells "Fire!!" is so good. And that theme. Holy smokes it hits you like a ton of bricks and I'm convinced it was needed during the losing Wilson scene. Most people think they are sad because he's losing Wilson, when in reality I think it's that theme ripping your heart out. I didn't find myself crying this time, probably due to being sick. Also, I do believe the whale that Chuck encounters at the end does play some sort of role of 'watching over' him. Which made me very happy. They're very intelligent and gentle creatures and so why not? (they like you very much, chuck but they are not the hell your whales - said in Spock's voice) I have a new found sadness for the films ending though, his ex-girlfriend, Kelly. Who was played brilliantly by Helen Hunt. In my head canon I feel like she could possibly be the true victim here of having to live with the fact that she moved on when in fact he is obviously alive. Now obviously nobody could blame her. But what about her new husband? Hopefully their bond is strong or else that marriage could fall apart very quickly knowing he is not the one for her. And what if she ends up all alone while our man, Chuck meets his true love in the midwest. I can't help but feel more sad for Kelly than Chuck at the end. Even after 4 years alone on an island. Maybe I should stick to comfort movies when I'm sick. Naïve Old Fart, iamleyeti and LSH

Steffromuk 387
Since I received my copy of LLL Gorky Park. I finally watched the movie. Mmm... it was too long. The beginning was promising but the plot and its development became messy and boring as time past. And the character writing was quite thin and cold.
