Tydirium reacted to Smeltington in Film Music Wiki (new film score resource) - editors wanted
I really had high hopes for Scorepedia. I hope this one will take off. So many people have been kind enough to share valuable content on this forum... the sum total knowledge on here is massive, and much of it is obscure and difficult if not impossible to find anywhere else. But unfortunately, it's often hard to find the info here too, given that it's spread out across years' worth of forum posts. I think a wiki format would be an extremely handy reference, if we were able to start sharing info over there.

I wonder if any of our Scorepedia articles still exist somewhere, to be ported in? I remember the Chamber of Secrets score was my pet project over there, it would be cool to see that page resurrected, along with all the rest of the content others contributed.

As insightful as this text is (I mean, they admit that they could have been more meticulous), having bought the highly deficient 2020 release I feel a little annoyed now.

This one really has to be the perfect release, absolutely complete, consistent volume, no clicks and a clear step up in sound - anything else would be galling.

I don't know if it has been mentioned, but he also won a Saturn Award for Indiana Jones.

Well deserved award. Helena's Theme was best piece of film music I heard all year. Nobody else in this category came close. Very happy with this win.

Is it just an impression, or it seems that since the recent major issues with replacing defective CDs, specialized labels are printing very few CDs at a time. As a result, after the initial launch, the product quickly goes "out of stock." While it may be easier for them to manage, I wonder if it is for the customer as well. I'm also waiting for this release to come back in stock because I wanted to order it along with another, but in the meantime, the latter has also gone out of stock. It's becoming difficult to manage.

That was indeed a fine interview, thanks for sharing!

Little new to us hardcore Williams biographers, but there was one bit -- that he wrote music PRIOR to his piano sonata in 1951, which was always listed as his first composition. I've always suspected as much, but nice to have it confirmed. It remains to be seen what it actually was.

Of course, the interview moves in a different, more general direction eventually, but I grasp on to the straws of "early Williams" tidbits, obsessing so strongly about it as I do. Kudos to Mr. Woods. This was miles ahead of the interviews he likes to do with mainstream media, and I expect it to be widely shared on social media in the coming days.

Yes, I get that. But saying “not at all” is incorrect, since according to the common definition of the term, it is very much a naked link. My initial comment was just joking about how even though you wrote more than just the link, it was still technically a naked link. Lol, never mind.

Huh? Genuinely puzzled by this. The award isn’t for the composer who reaches/tops their previous work; it’s for the best score of a given year… It’s entirely possible for JW to write a score that “doesn’t reach the heights of his most classic works,” and for that score to still happen to be better than the other contenders...

I will admit a simple bias: I think Williams has suffered an injustice (yes, there are bigger injustices in the world, but an injustice nonetheless) with many, many of his past loses.  So, on any given year, including this year, I think Williams deserves to win to somehow balance out the past issues.  The completely rational part of my mind recognizes this as problematic, but here we are.

I do think that since Williams has never won for an Indy score, all of it should be treated as original in the eyes of the Oscars.  If Shore could win for scores where the latter had copious amounts of themes from the previous or Santaolalla winning for two scores in the same general league of mediocrity then the damn Raider's March in DoD alone should secure an Oscar.
