I also attended a couple other concerts featuring JW's music (conducted by others) where the audience started spontaneously to clap in rhythm with the inevitable Imperial March encore. 1 First TROS March Accolyte reacted to this

Wow, that's great. Alas, a spontaneous crowd combustion is not something we can hope for in Vienna... and I am not sure Williams would risk having an audience not respond well to this kind of gesture on his part. It's not an audience he knows, like that in Boston.

I guess Raiders’ March (which I think was mentioned already) is also a probability. I consider the following four candidates very likely: The Imperial March Yoda's Theme The Raider's March Something from TROS Of course, that's too many already. Unless ASM shows up for the violin stuff in the first half and does Yoda as an encore before the intermission or something. 9 hours ago, Modest Expectations said: Imagine Williams turning around and conducting the audience clapping to The Raiders March like they do with Radetzky March on New Year's Eve concerts. bollemanneke 1142 Report post Posted November 8 I don't know, I just feel that this should be an occasion for the VP to perform and hopefully record their interpretation of all these pieces. First TROS March Accolyte 1121 Report post Posted November 8 I can sympathize with that. We know how she plays this music, and she will continue to play it with many different orchestras. Meanwhile this concert is a unique opportunity to take full advantage of this particular orchestra. From a certain point of view it would be better if she didn't steal even a measure of spotlight from them. 3 Will, bollemanneke and heidl reacted to this

Furthermore I think Mutter goes way overboard with her style of playing. It's not so much serving the piece, but instead drawing way too much attention to her violin playing. 1 JTWfan77 reacted to this
GlastoEls 37 Report post Posted November 9 I’d love her there - chance to see a world class musician. But for a handful of pieces only, letting the orchestra stay in the spotlight.

Who says that virtuoso "solo" violin showcase pieces are the point in the first place? An unjustified violin-centeredness in the concert space feels a bit intrusive where a broad orchestral legacy is concerned. To clarify: As stated earlier in the thread, I am looking forward to the programme as it is. I think the v&o arrangements are important to Williams' current image as an artist, and I like them. But I also consider them a bit of a fad, or a gimmick. 2 JTWfan77 and bollemanneke reacted to this

Melvin Frohike 11 Report post Posted November 14 I just got my ticket for the Sunday concert after having been in the waiting queue since October 28th 13:54 GMT+1. I queued for all categories and now got category 6-7. FYI, the ticket clearly states JW as the conductor as well as Anne-Sophie Mutter as the violinist. 6 Jurassic Shark, Biodome, Jurassic Purpose and 3 others reacted to this
crumbs 5975 Report post Posted November 14 Well, the speculation was well founded. ASM live with JW in Austria, what a dream. Congrats on your ticket. Wish I was as lucky. I understand JW's age but I wish with all my heart they could add a third concert to this visit. It seems like such a rare opportunity to only have two performances given the occasion.
